Job Overview: The Consultant for ATHIS Training Facilitation will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of the ATHIS project, which aims to build capacity among professionals involved in social housing. This position involves developing training plans and materials, delivering training sessions, and providing technical support for monitoring and evaluation strategies. The consultant will work closely with UN-Habitat’s operational and technical teams, ensuring that the training is tailored to the needs of various stakeholders, including municipal professionals, civil society organizations, and architecture and urbanism professionals. The consultant will also be responsible for documenting the training activities and outcomes, contributing to the overall success of the project.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will have a range of responsibilities, including: 1) Supporting the development of training plans and materials based on capacity needs assessments; 2) Delivering training sessions across three modules targeting different professional groups; 3) Providing technical support for the development of a Monitoring and Evaluation Strategy; 4) Conducting virtual capacity-building sessions; 5) Developing a methodology handbook for Monitoring and Evaluation tools; 6) Assessing participants’ learning outcomes and compiling results; 7) Preparing reports documenting training activities; 8) Participating in field missions as required. The consultant must also complete a security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security course during the first month of employment and ensure compliance with UN security protocols.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture and Urbanism or have three additional years of relevant experience. A postgraduate degree in related fields is desirable. Candidates should have a minimum of three years of experience in urban development or social housing, with experience in capacity building programs and teaching being essential. Familiarity with South-South Cooperation and previous experience in the United Nations is also desirable. Strong computer skills and knowledge of project management methodologies are required, along with competencies in professionalism, planning, communication, teamwork, and knowledge management.
Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in Architecture and Urbanism is required for this position. Candidates with a postgraduate degree in Architecture and Urbanism, Geography, Sociology, Law, Social Work, Public Policy, Social Sciences, or related fields will be given preference. The educational background should reflect a strong foundation in urban development and social housing principles.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of three years of relevant experience in urban development and/or social housing, specifically within the Brazilian context. Experience in capacity building programs and teaching is essential, while experience with social housing and South-South Cooperation is desirable. Candidates should also have experience coordinating fieldwork, preferably in the public sector, and previous work experience with the United Nations is advantageous.
Languages: Fluency in Portuguese is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary working language in Brazil. A working knowledge of English is desirable, as English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Proficiency in Spanish is also beneficial, given the regional context of the position.
Additional Notes: This consultancy is part-time (48%) with a total remuneration of BRL 15,00
The payment schedule is linked to the delivery and approval of specific products related to the training facilitation. The consultant must be available for travel within Brazil as required by the Head of Brazil Office, with travel expenses covered by UN-Habitat according to United Nations guidelines. The appointment is on a local basis, and only Brazilian nationals or candidates with a permanent visa in Brazil may apply. The contract's extension is subject to funding availability and performance, and all applications must be submitted in English through the specified platform.
