Job Overview:
The position of Engineer (Digital Infrastructure) is based in Brussels, Belgium, and is part of the NCIA's initiative to transform IT services in support of NATO's Digital Endeavour. The successful candidate will join the Communications and Services Unit (CSU) in Brussels, which is responsible for delivering Communications and Information System (CIS) products and services to various NATO entities, including the Secretary General and the International Staff. The role involves managing critical technological capabilities during peacetime, crises, and wartime, ensuring that NATO's operations are supported by robust IT infrastructure. The Engineer will be expected to engage in information security, systems design, systems integration, and IT infrastructure management, contributing to the overall mission of NATO.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Engineer (Digital Infrastructure) will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:

• Ensuring information security across all digital infrastructure.
• Designing systems that meet the operational needs of NATO.
• Integrating various systems to ensure seamless functionality.
• Building and maintaining IT infrastructure that supports NATO's operations.
• Troubleshooting infrastructure-related issues and performing regular maintenance to ensure optimal performance.
• Collaborating with other teams to implement new technologies and improve existing systems.
• Documenting processes and procedures related to system design and integration.
• Participating in training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge in digital infrastructure.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from a nationally recognized or certified university in a related discipline, along with at least 2 years of post-related experience. Alternatively, candidates without a university degree may qualify if they can demonstrate at least 6 years of extensive and progressive expertise in relevant duties. Additionally, candidates should have practical experience in designing, implementing, and managing technology, software, and hardware components that support server and data center operations. Experience with troubleshooting infrastructure issues and maintaining systems is also required, along with a strong understanding of Microsoft Windows operating systems in a large-scale client-server environment using Active Directory Services.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field from a recognized institution is required. Candidates with equivalent experience may be considered if they can demonstrate significant expertise in the relevant areas of digital infrastructure management. Continuous professional development and training in related technologies are encouraged and may be beneficial for candidates.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 2 years of practical experience in the field of digital infrastructure, specifically in designing, implementing, and managing technology systems. Candidates should have a proven track record of working with servers, storage systems, data centers, and cloud services, as well as experience in troubleshooting and maintaining IT infrastructure. Experience in a NATO or similar international organization is an advantage but not mandatory.

Languages:
Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly those relevant to NATO member countries, as it can enhance communication within the diverse international environment of the organization.

Additional Notes:
The position offers a 5-year contract with a competitive tax-free salary, along with household and children's allowances where applicable.
