Job Overview:
The Deputy Project Manager will work closely with the Senior Project Manager to ensure the successful execution of projects within the organization. This role involves maintaining constant communication with the Senior Project Manager and participating in performance evaluation sessions. The Deputy Project Manager is expected to support the planning, implementation, and monitoring of project activities, ensuring that they align with organizational goals and objectives. The position is specifically open to internal candidates from UNOPS, which includes current staff members with valid contracts. The Deputy Project Manager will also be responsible for fostering collaboration among team members and stakeholders, addressing challenges that may arise during project execution, and contributing to the overall success of the project.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Deputy Project Manager will have a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to: assisting in the development of project plans and schedules; coordinating project activities and resources; monitoring project progress and performance; preparing reports and documentation related to project status; facilitating communication between project stakeholders; identifying risks and proposing mitigation strategies; ensuring compliance with UNOPS policies and procedures; supporting the Senior Project Manager in decision-making processes; and participating in capacity-building initiatives for project staff. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to adapt to changing project requirements.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess strong project management skills, including experience in planning, executing, and monitoring projects. They should have a solid understanding of project management methodologies and tools. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Proficiency in project management software and tools is also required. Candidates should be able to demonstrate a commitment to the values and principles of UNOPS, including integrity, professionalism, and respect for diversity.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in project management, business administration, international relations, or a related field is required. A master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred and may be considered an advantage. Professional certifications in project management, such as PMP (Project Management Professional) or PRINCE2, are also desirable and will enhance a candidate's qualifications for this position.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in project management or a related field. Experience working in international organizations or within the UN system is highly valued. Candidates should also have a proven track record of successfully managing projects from inception to completion, demonstrating their ability to deliver results in a timely and efficient manner.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the working language of UNOPS. Proficiency in Spanish is also required, given the location of the position in Honduras. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly those relevant to the region, would be considered an asset and could enhance a candidate's profile.
