Job Overview: The Junior Officer position at UN Women involves supporting the Women, Peace and Security, and Women’s Political Participation initiatives. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders to implement programs that empower women and promote gender equality. The Junior Officer will assist in planning, managing, and monitoring program activities, ensuring that gender considerations are integrated into all aspects of the work. This position is crucial for facilitating the organization's mission to enhance women's participation in governance and economic spheres, as well as addressing gender-based violence and promoting women's roles in peace and security efforts. The Junior Officer will work under the supervision of the Head of Programme, contributing to the overall success of UN Women’s initiatives in Tunisia and Libya.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Junior Officer will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including:
Programme Planning and Management Support: Contributing to the preparation and updating of program work plans, assisting in the collection of information for budgeting and project proposals, supporting the preparation of administrative documents, monitoring program activities, and organizing project documents.
Administrative and Financial Programme Support: Updating project information in management systems, monitoring expenditures, preparing supporting documents for project activities, tracking financial commitments, and assisting in administrative closure processes.
Support to Activity Organization, Meetings, and Missions: Organizing logistics for meetings and events, preparing participant lists and materials, and supporting travel procedures.
Field Activity Monitoring and Partner Coordination Support: Monitoring partner activities, coordinating with partners for field activities, tracking timelines, and disseminating information among teams and stakeholders.
Communication, Reporting, and Knowledge Management Support: Preparing communication materials, organizing data for reporting, documenting activities and best practices, and supporting knowledge-sharing initiatives.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess strong organizational and communication skills, with a commitment to gender equality and women's empowerment. They should demonstrate integrity, respect for diversity, and professionalism. The ability to work collaboratively in a team and adapt to changing circumstances is essential. Candidates should also exhibit creativity and innovation in problem-solving, along with effective self-management skills.
Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in social sciences, international relations, gender studies, or a related field is required. A master's degree would be an advantage, particularly in areas related to gender equality, development, or humanitarian action.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 1-2 years of relevant experience in program support, administration, or project management, preferably in the context of gender equality or women's empowerment initiatives. Experience working with international organizations or NGOs is highly desirable, as is familiarity with UN systems and procedures.
Languages: Fluency in English and Arabic is mandatory. Knowledge of French is considered an asset, as it may facilitate communication with various stakeholders and partners in the region.
Additional Notes: This is a national UN Volunteer assignment, and the volunteer will be responsible for arranging their own accommodation and living needs. The contract duration is specified, with no guarantee of renewal. The position offers a monthly Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) to cover living expenses, along with comprehensive insurance coverage. Additional entitlements include relocation costs and an exit lump sum upon successful completion of the assignment.
