Job Overview: The Finance Officer plays a crucial role in supporting the Finance Responsible in managing the financial aspects of the base. This position is essential for ensuring accurate financial management and compliance with SI’s standards and donor requirements. The Finance Officer is responsible for maintaining the cash box and cash/bank books, monitoring financial transactions, and archiving accounting documents. This role requires a high level of attention to detail and the ability to manage financial records accurately. The Finance Officer will also be involved in preparing monthly financial reports and ensuring that all financial activities align with the organization's policies and procedures. The position is vital for maintaining the financial integrity of the organization and supporting its humanitarian mission in Syria.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Finance Officer's duties include managing the base office accounting, planning and controlling cash advances, recording all transactions in the petty cash box, and ensuring that cash box balances reflect the actual amounts. The officer is responsible for preparing monthly accounts reports, checking individual entries, and ensuring compliance with donor requirements. Daily recording of cash and bank transactions is required, along with monthly bank reconciliations. The Finance Officer will manage financial documents for daily coordination payments, collect boarding passes from travelers, and ensure that all advances are cleared within agreed timelines. The officer must ensure that all accounting documents are translated into English, archived according to SI procedures, and that cash box security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security is maintained. Additionally, the Finance Officer will support the finance responsible in forecasting cash needs and managing funds transfer to bases through Money Transfer Agents (MTA).
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance. A minimum of two years of experience in the humanitarian sector and two years in a similar position is required. The role demands strong accountancy skills, analytical abilities, and proficiency in relevant accounting software. Advanced Excel skills are essential, along with excellent communication and time management skills. The candidate should be autonomous, organized, and capable of prioritizing tasks while working under pressure. Strong computer skills are also necessary for this position.
