Job Overview:
The Principal Risk Officer plays a crucial role in supporting the Associate Director of Operational Risk in fostering a robust risk culture within the EBRD. This position involves implementing the Operational Risk Framework across the organization, ensuring that operational risks are effectively identified, managed, and mitigated. The Principal Risk Officer is tasked with delivering key projects, performing risk identification, and monitoring remediation activities. This role is essential for ensuring that the EBRD meets its business objectives while maintaining a strong operational risk management framework. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing incidents, developing dashboards for risk communication, and providing expert consultancy in risk identification and control design. They will champion risk culture and enhance awareness of operational risk throughout the organization, ensuring that the Operational Risk Framework is embedded across all areas of EBRD.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Principal Risk Officer is expected to work independently and exercise decision-making abilities while engaging with various business units to review and challenge operational risk information. Key responsibilities include: ensuring that businesses identify, manage, and report operational risks in line with EBRD requirements; advising and educating colleagues on their roles regarding operational risk policy; developing and delivering operational risk plans; representing Operational Risk Management (ORM) at internal committees; conducting root cause analysis of incidents; identifying knowledge gaps and providing training; supervising the drafting of ORM guidelines; contributing to the development of the Operational Risk Management System; maintaining management information and operational risk reporting; and developing external relationships to stay informed about best practices.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a degree or equivalent in a risk-related field such as Accountancy, Risk Management, or Chartered Financial Analyst. They should have at least 5 years of experience in operational risk management within a financial services organization, along with experience in developing and deploying Operational Risk Management Frameworks and tools. Knowledge of Risk Appetite and Scenario Analysis, operational risk reporting, and governance is essential. Familiarity with banking products and development bank experience is advantageous. Candidates should demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication abilities, and the capacity to manage relationships effectively.

Educational Background:
A degree in a relevant field such as finance, risk management, or accountancy is required. Professional qualifications such as Chartered Financial Analyst or Chartered Accountant are beneficial and may enhance a candidate's profile.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in operational risk management within a financial services context. Candidates should have a proven track record in developing and implementing operational risk frameworks and tools, as well as experience in risk appetite and scenario analysis development.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, and proficiency in additional languages would be considered an asset, particularly those relevant to the EBRD's operational regions.
