Job Overview: The Analyst's primary responsibility is to coordinate and manage the Special Investment Group's (SIG) grant business related to co-investment grants and technical cooperation (TC) for the allocated region or countries. This role involves working closely with Operation Leaders during the structuring phase of investment projects and contributing to the structuring and approval processes of grants that support these investment projects. The Analyst will also ensure the appropriate implementation of grants that support SIG's business objectives. SIG is responsible for delivering approximately 100 signed projects annually across various sectors such as power, energy, transport, social infrastructure, and municipal infrastructure, amounting to around EUR 4.0 billion in annual business volume. The SIG Blending and TC Unit specifically manages a grant business of around EUR 250 million per year, which includes various policy dialogue activities aimed at unlocking greater potential for commercialized and private-sector-led projects in these sectors.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Analyst will be responsible for coordinating the team's grant-funded activities for the allocated country or region. This includes working in conjunction with the Regional Grant Manager and the Donor Partnerships unit to prepare annual needs assessments, maintain a project pipeline, and secure the necessary funding for SIG's grant-funded projects. The Analyst will oversee the use of secured funds, identify and resolve any issues that may arise, and support donor fund origination for the relevant country or region, including preparing funding applications to donors. Additionally, the Analyst will actively contribute to and manage the preparation of Technical Assistance (TA) assignments and the approval process, ensuring that all grant-related issues are followed up to secure final approval. The Analyst will also review TA-related information in group submissions for approval by Operation Leaders of investment projects, manage the portfolio of grant-funded projects, and highlight any issues or risks to the relevant lead banker or director responsible for the region or country. Furthermore, the Analyst will oversee donor reporting and ensure that reports prepared by Operation Leaders to donors are of adequate quality prior to submission.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess at least an undergraduate degree from a leading university in their country of education, preferably in finance, economics, or sustainable development. Relevant work experience is required, which can be in a financial institution, international aid organization, or philanthropic foundations that award grant resources. While direct experience in grant management is not mandatory, candidates should have experience in related roles such as finance, procurement, legal, or project management. Experience working with Development Aid and knowledge of different delivery mechanisms related to grant funds in International Financial Institutions (IFIs) is highly advantageous. Familiarity with the financial sector and banking is also beneficial, along with an understanding of the infrastructure sector and knowledge of the EBRD region.
Educational Background: The position requires a minimum of an undergraduate degree from a reputable university, ideally in fields such as finance, economics, or sustainable development. This educational background is essential to ensure that the Analyst has a solid foundation in the principles and practices relevant to the role.
Experience: Candidates should have relevant work experience, which can include roles in financial institutions, international aid organizations, or foundations that manage grant resources. While direct experience in grant management is not strictly necessary, candidates should have experience in related fields such as finance, procurement, legal, or project management. Experience in the financial sector or banking is considered an advantage, as is familiarity with Development Aid and the mechanisms used to deliver grant funds in IFIs.
Languages: Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is essential for this position. Candidates with a working knowledge of any other EBRD language will have an advantage, as the role may involve communication with diverse stakeholders across different regions.
