The Data Engineering Assistant is expected to contribute to the integrity, performance, security, and compliance of these digital platforms while aligning with the organization's digital transformation initiatives. Duties and Responsibilities: The Data Engineering Assistant will be responsible for a variety of functions, including managing user access and workflow configuration, application development support, data management and preparation, technical user support, and documentation and knowledge sharing. Specific duties include managing user accounts, roles, and permissions for web-based applications, configuring and maintaining workflows for online forms and SharePoint components, applying routine updates and system checks, identifying and resolving minor bugs within internal applications, supporting developers during code deployments, assisting with data migrations, collecting and validating datasets, conducting quality checks on data pipelines, responding to user requests and service tickets, maintaining records of system configurations, and preparing technical guides and FAQs. The role also involves performing other job-related activities as required to support the organization's goals and objectives.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong technical background with experience in supporting the design and implementation of web applications, automated workflows, and dashboards. Practical knowledge of Microsoft .NET, SharePoint, Power BI, and Power Automate is essential, along with familiarity with full-stack technologies such as ASP.NET, Angular/React, and SQL. Candidates should have a solid understanding of data management, validation, and reporting processes, as well as the ability to troubleshoot and resolve application and data-related issues. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills are required, along with the ability to produce and maintain accurate technical documentation. Core competencies include professionalism, accountability, effective communication, teamwork, planning, and a client-oriented approach.
Educational Background: A minimum of secondary education is required for this position. Additional training or certifications in information technology, software development practices, SharePoint administration, data management, or related fields are highly desirable and will enhance a candidate's qualifications for the role.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of six years of practical experience in IT application support, data management, software development, or related fields. Experience in managing user accounts and permissions, configuring workflows, and supporting application deployments is essential. Familiarity with Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Power BI, Angular, Azure, Fabric, and Power Automate is considered a bonus. Experience working in an international, multicultural environment is also desirable, as it aligns with the organization's commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Languages: Proficiency in English, both oral and written, is essential for this position. Knowledge of another official UN language is considered an asset and may enhance communication within the organization and with external stakeholders.
Additional Notes: The position is limited to local status only, meaning applicants must have unhindered permission to live and work in the UK. The first year of the contract will be probationary, with the possibility of extension based on satisfactory performance and funding availability. The salary for this position is approximately £48,722 net per annum, subject to deductions, and is free of income tax in the UK. The role comes with excellent benefits, including medical insurance and participation in the UN pension scheme.
