Job Overview:
The Technical Specialist – Nutrition will provide hands-on technical support for the implementation of nutrition-related interventions under the EpiC project, focusing on maternal, infant, and young child nutrition, community-based nutrition, and integration with Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE), maternal and child health (MNCH), and emergency preparedness components. The role involves working closely with national and sub-national partners, government agencies, civil society, and other stakeholders to strengthen nutrition service delivery and behavioral change communication. The position requires strong technical expertise in nutrition and experience in integrated public health programs, with responsibilities including capacity-building efforts, supervision of field-level activities, monitoring nutrition indicators, and contributing to strategic planning, reporting, and learning processes.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Key responsibilities include assisting in the design, planning, and implementation of nutrition activities in line with national guidelines and EpiC's strategic objectives. The Specialist will support the integration of essential nutrition actions into RCCE and MNCH platforms, particularly for pregnant/lactating women and children under five. They will provide technical input to adapt and roll out social and behavior change communication materials focused on maternal diets, breastfeeding, complementary feeding, and adolescent nutrition. The role also involves facilitating field implementation of core nutrition interventions, supporting local partner work plan development, and monitoring activity progress. Additionally, the Specialist will organize and facilitate trainings for frontline workers, provide mentoring and on-the-job support, assist in developing nutrition-related SOPs, oversee subrecipient monitoring, and coordinate with local partners to ensure quality and coverage of nutrition interventions. They will also contribute to documentation and reporting, including technical reports, case studies, and donor reports.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires a Master’s degree in Nutrition, Public Health, Dietetics, or a related field. Candidates should have a minimum of 6-7 years of progressively responsible experience in implementing community-based nutrition and MIYCN programs, preferably in USG-funded projects. Strong technical knowledge of maternal and child nutrition, infant and young child feeding practices, and nutrition in emergencies is essential. Proven experience in training, supervision, and capacity building of health workers or community volunteers is required, along with familiarity with national nutrition policies and service delivery structures in Bangladesh. Candidates should be skilled in data use for decision-making and program improvement, and possess excellent interpersonal, coordination, and communication skills in both English and Bangla.

Educational Background:
A Master’s degree in Nutrition, Public Health, Dietetics, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background is crucial as it provides the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills needed to effectively implement nutrition programs and interventions.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 6-7 years of progressively responsible experience in implementing community-based nutrition and MIYCN programs. This experience should preferably be in USG-funded projects, demonstrating a strong understanding of the complexities involved in public health nutrition and the ability to work effectively in diverse settings.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Bangla is mandatory for this position. Strong communication skills in both languages are essential for effective collaboration with local partners, stakeholders, and community members. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not required.

Additional Notes:
This position is contingent upon funding from the Department of State. The expected hiring salary range for this role is BDT 1,300,000 - 2,000,000 annually for gross salary.
