Job Overview:
The Project Management Support - Senior Officer position is crucial for the effective implementation, coordination, and monitoring of maritime security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security, border management, law enforcement, and criminal justice programs in Bangladesh. The role involves providing technical, analytical, and operational support in program planning, execution, and reporting. The incumbent will contribute to risk management, stakeholder engagement, and performance monitoring, ensuring timely coordination with national counterparts and partners. The position requires a proactive approach to client focus and problem-solving, driving efficient program delivery and achieving results aligned with organizational priorities and donor expectations. The officer will work closely with the UNODC Border Management Branch Maritime Team and will be responsible for supporting the development and execution of various maritime security and law enforcement initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Project Delivery and Performance: The officer will support the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of UNODC maritime security and law enforcement programs in coordination with national counterparts. This includes reviewing and editing project documents, maintaining communication with donors, and collaborating with administrative and finance associates for effective capacity-building program execution. The officer will also participate in field missions and represent the Maritime Team in events and workshops.
• Monitoring, Reporting, and Quality Assurance: The officer will monitor and analyze program progress, identify challenges, and recommend corrective actions. Responsibilities include providing translation and quality assurance for program documents and supporting budgeting and reporting processes.
• Stakeholder Engagement and Coordination: The officer will facilitate communication with maritime authorities and law enforcement agencies, establishing partnerships to support effective project design and implementation. This includes providing logistical and technical support for meetings and events.
• Knowledge Building and Sharing: The officer will support policy coordination and evaluation functions, participate in research activities, and prepare managerial products to aid program design and resource mobilization efforts. The role also involves identifying problems and recommending solutions.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires an advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in law, criminology, political sciences, public administration, international relations, security studies, or a relevant social or political area focused on criminal justice and/or law enforcement issues. Alternatively, a first-level university degree (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in similar fields combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in relevant fields such as law, criminology, political sciences, public administration, international relations, or security studies, particularly with a focus on criminal justice and law enforcement. A Bachelor’s degree in similar fields, along with two additional years of relevant experience, may also be considered acceptable.

Experience:
Candidates should have relevant experience in program administration or coordination in areas related to rule of law, criminal justice, maritime law enforcement, or maritime security at the national level. Experience in supporting activities related to maritime crime or transnational organized crime is essential, including capacity-building, technical assistance, policy support, and training delivery. The role requires experience in liaising with national authorities and law enforcement agencies, as well as proficiency in Microsoft 365 software packages.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Bengali is required for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not mandatory.

Additional Notes:
The position is classified as mid-level (ICS 09) and is offered on an Individual Contractor Agreement (ICA) basis, specifically as a LICA - Specialist - Regular contract. The duration of the contract is four months, with the possibility of extension based on the availability of funds and satisfactory performance.
