Job Overview:
The Senior Energy Specialist position at the World Bank Group is a pivotal role within the South Asia Energy Practice, which is part of the SAR Infrastructure Group. This position focuses on the energy sector, particularly the gas sector, and involves designing and implementing energy sector operations and analytical tasks. The selected candidate will engage with various stakeholders, including government representatives and private sector partners, to facilitate policy dialogue and identify opportunities for collaboration. Duties and Responsibilities:
The Senior Energy Specialist will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including: staying informed about global and regional developments in the energy sector, particularly regarding natural gas; engaging in dialogue with private sector representatives to assess the business investment climate; contributing to policy discussions and alerting management to critical issues; leading analytical and strategic work related to the energy sector; overseeing the preparation, appraisal, negotiation, and supervision of energy projects; coordinating with government counterparts and consultants to provide high-quality research and analytical support; drafting project documents and reports; supporting official missions and preparing aide memoires; and performing other tasks as assigned by the Practice Manager. This role demands a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work collaboratively within a diverse team.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a PhD or Master's degree in energy engineering, planning, finance, economics, or related fields relevant to energy sector development. Additionally, a minimum of 8 years of combined experience in international institutions, government agencies, or power sector utilities is required, with a proven track record of successful engagement in complex projects. Familiarity with the design, development, implementation, and operations of energy and gas projects is essential. Experience in financing large infrastructure projects, particularly in blending public and private sources, is strongly preferred. Candidates should demonstrate a solid understanding of energy policies, technologies, and strategies, as well as the ability to engage in policy dialogue with clients and stakeholders.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a PhD or Master's degree in relevant fields such as energy engineering, planning, finance, or economics. This advanced education is crucial for understanding the complexities of energy sector development and for effectively contributing to the World Bank Group's mission in the South Asia region.

Experience:
