Job Overview: The Accounting and Finance Officer position is crucial for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of transactions and administrative data within the global Welthungerhilfe administrative hub, also known as the Shared Service Center. This role is designed to contribute to efficient service delivery, operational quality, and the effective functioning of Hub operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for processing accounting transactions based on supporting documentation received through established workflows, ensuring that financial documents are booked accurately and on time. The role also involves liaising with finance colleagues across various Country Offices to resolve processing issues and ensure timely follow-up on outstanding items, thereby playing a key role in maintaining the integrity of financial operations within the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Accounting and Finance Officer include:
Processing accounting transactions based on supporting documentation received through established workflows.
Ensuring timely and accurate booking of financial documents.
Verifying that required supporting documentation is available for processing activities.
Liaising with finance colleagues across Country Offices to resolve processing issues and ensure timely follow-up on outstanding items.
Performing account reconciliation activities to maintain accurate financial records.
Maintaining proper electronic filing and documentation of accounting records to ensure easy retrieval and compliance.
Working effectively within a changing operational environment, integrating new processes and responsibilities as additional operational activities are progressively integrated into the Hub.
Supporting compliance with internal controls, procedures, and audit requirements to uphold financial integrity.
Contributing to the smooth functioning of the Hub by working collaboratively with team members and identifying opportunities for improvement in processes and workflows.
Required Qualifications: The ideal candidate for the Accounting and Finance Officer position should possess the following qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
CPA (K) Finalist status is required, demonstrating a commitment to professional development in the field of accounting.
A minimum of 3 years of progressive professional experience in accounting or finance roles, preferably within an international NGO setting.
Familiarity with international donor regulations is preferred, indicating an understanding of the financial landscape in which the organization operates.
Audit experience is considered an added advantage, showcasing a comprehensive understanding of financial processes and compliance requirements.
Strong accounting skills, including management of general ledgers, journal entries, payables, and balance sheets, are essential for success in this role.
Advanced computer skills in MS Office applications, particularly Excel, are necessary for effective data management and reporting.
Educational Background: Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
