Job Overview:
The Online Volunteer position at UN Women Uganda is focused on supporting the communications team in the design and dissemination of a digital awareness campaign aimed at educating the public about Ebola prevention and response. The volunteer will play a crucial role in developing and sharing approved messaging that addresses Ebola risks, outlines prevention measures, and emphasizes the importance of seeking early medical attention. This role is vital in enhancing public understanding and awareness of health issues, particularly in communities that may have limited access to timely and accurate information. The volunteer will be expected to utilize their creativity and communication skills to effectively engage the target audience and promote health literacy regarding Ebola.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the communications team to design and develop messaging for the digital awareness campaign on Ebola prevention and response.
  • Create engaging content for various digital platforms, including social media, websites, and other online channels.
  • Disseminate approved messaging to reach a wide audience, ensuring that the information is accessible and understandable.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the campaign, gathering feedback and data to assess public engagement and awareness levels.
  • Assist in the amplification of verified information regarding Ebola risks and prevention measures through digital channels.
  • Work closely with other volunteers and team members to ensure a cohesive approach to the campaign.
  • Stay updated on the latest developments related to Ebola and public health to ensure that messaging is accurate and relevant.

Required Qualifications:
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex information in a clear and engaging manner.
  • Experience in digital communications, social media management, or public health messaging is preferred.
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving skills to develop innovative content for the campaign.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and contribute to a positive team dynamic.
  • Familiarity with public health issues, particularly infectious diseases, is an asset.
  • Proficiency in using digital tools and platforms for content creation and dissemination.

Educational Background:
A background in communications, public health, social sciences, or a related field is preferred. A degree or certification in these areas can enhance the candidate's suitability for the role.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have prior experience in digital communications or public health messaging. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to gender equality and women's empowerment, aligning with the mission of UN Women.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as all communications will be conducted in English. Knowledge of local languages spoken in Uganda would be considered an asset, as it may enhance outreach efforts and engagement with diverse communities.
