Job Overview: The position involves developing a training proposal focused on dialogue, socio-environmental conflict management, Participatory Environmental Zoning (ZAP), and the rights of peasant, indigenous, and environmental communities. The consultant will implement training spaces with peasant communities in three Peasant Reserve Zones, ensuring the inclusion of women, youth, community leaders, and Community Action Boards. Additionally, the role requires the preparation of an analytical document on the main socio-environmental conflicts in these areas and the design of a community dialogue methodology to address socio-environmental and territorial conflicts. Coordination with the UN Human Rights Office is essential to ensure that community documents and instruments incorporate a human rights approach and international standards, as well as to guarantee the secure handling of information.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will implement training spaces with peasant leaders, women, youth, and members of community action boards in each Peasant Reserve Zone, focusing on dialogue and consensus-building, prevention and management of socio-environmental conflicts, Participatory Environmental Zoning (ZAP), and the rights of peasants and environmental rights. The consultant will establish a methodological design for training based on a human rights approach, addressing the rights of peasant populations, indigenous peoples, and the right to a healthy, clean, and sustainable environment. Furthermore, the consultant will support the installation and/or strengthening of management mechanisms regarding conflicts and territorial issues in each Peasant Reserve Zone.
Required Qualifications: Required: High school diploma. Desirable: Professional degree in political science, law, anthropology, or related fields relevant to the responsibilities of the position. The consultant should possess strong analytical and communication skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with diverse community groups and stakeholders.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes at least a high school diploma, with a preference for candidates holding a professional degree in fields such as political science, law, anthropology, or other related studies that align with the responsibilities of the role.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 10 years of professional experience related to the rights of peasant populations, land and territorial issues, and environmental zoning. Candidates should have a proven track record of working in community engagement, conflict resolution, and human rights advocacy, particularly in the context of socio-environmental issues.
Languages: Fluency in Spanish is mandatory, with advanced proficiency required for effective communication and training delivery. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset but is not mandatory for this position.
Additional Notes: The expected duration of the consultancy is from July 1 to November 3
The position is part-time, and the consultant will be expected to work closely with various stakeholders, including the UN Human Rights Office.
