Job Overview:
The Staff Assistant (Finance & Travel) position is integral to the operations of the Supreme Allied Commander Transformation (SACT) and the Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Transformation (DSACT). This role involves supporting the budgeting, purchasing, accounting, treasury, and auditing functions within the organization. The Staff Assistant will work closely with the Staff Officer (Support Services) to ensure that all financial activities are conducted in compliance with NATO Financial Regulations. The position requires a proactive approach to managing financial records and travel requests, ensuring that all documentation is accurate and up to date. The Staff Assistant will also be responsible for maintaining finance logs, preparing budget documents, and ensuring that all financial transactions are properly recorded and reconciled. This role is essential for the smooth operation of the staff and contributes significantly to the overall mission of NATO.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Staff Assistant will perform a variety of administrative and fiscal activities, including but not limited to: maintaining finance logs and ledgers, preparing annual budget cycle documents, ensuring the accuracy of commitments and invoices, providing monthly account reconciliations, acting as custodian for petty cash and All Ranks Fund, updating inventory data, overseeing rationed items, and managing the survey and write-off process for non-expendable items. The role also involves liaising with various stakeholders, both internally and externally, to ensure effective communication and coordination of financial matters. The Staff Assistant must be able to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently, adapting to changing priorities as needed.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess either a Higher Secondary education with completed higher vocational training in finance, accounting, business administration, economics, public administration, or a related discipline leading to a formal technical or professional certification with at least 3 years of function-related experience, or a Secondary education with advanced vocational training in the same fields leading to a professional qualification or accreditation with a minimum of 5 years of post-related experience. Additionally, candidates should have at least 4 years of experience in finance and accounting, as well as 3 years of experience in administration.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Higher Secondary education with vocational training in finance or a related field, or a Secondary education with advanced vocational training leading to a professional qualification. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the complexities of financial management and administrative processes within NATO.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 4 years of experience in finance and accounting, along with at least 3 years of experience in administrative roles. This experience is crucial for effectively managing the financial responsibilities associated with the position and ensuring compliance with NATO regulations.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory, with a requirement for SLP 3322 level in Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing.
