Job Overview:
The Strategy Officer for Strategic Partnerships will play a crucial role in supporting the Director of the Group Strategy Office (GSOD) at the World Bank Group. This position is integral to advancing the institution's philanthropy agenda, which includes the design and implementation of a comprehensive philanthropy strategy and the establishment of a dedicated Hub. The officer will be responsible for ensuring that strategic goals align with the organization's mission and will focus on fostering innovation and establishing strategic frameworks. This role will also involve operational coordination and external engagement, particularly within a European context, making it essential for the officer to navigate complex stakeholder landscapes effectively.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Strategy Officer will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including:
  • Supporting the development and operationalization of the World Bank Group’s philanthropy strategy, which involves conducting analytical inputs, stakeholder mapping, and identifying priority engagement areas.
  • Acting as a liaison between the Group Strategy Office and the Philanthropy Engagement team to ensure effective communication and alignment of strategic priorities.
  • Contributing to the establishment and functioning of the philanthropy Hub, which includes supporting governance arrangements, workflows, and collaboration mechanisms across teams and regions.
  • Engaging with external partners, such as foundations and philanthropic organizations, to strengthen relationships and identify collaboration opportunities.
  • Developing analytical materials to inform strategic decision-making on philanthropy, including trends analysis and partner intelligence.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in business administration, international policy, economics, or a related field, along with a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in partnerships, strategy, international organizations, or development operations. They should demonstrate experience in stakeholder engagement and partnerships, preferably in a multilateral or humanitarian context. Strong analytical skills are essential, including the ability to prepare strategic briefs and synthesize information effectively. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required to work collaboratively across teams and build relationships.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master’s degree in a relevant field such as business administration, international policy, or economics. This advanced education is crucial for understanding the complexities of partnerships and strategy within the context of international development.

Experience:
The position requires at least 5 years of professional experience in relevant fields such as partnerships, strategy, or development operations. Candidates should have a proven track record of working in international organizations or similar environments, demonstrating their ability to navigate complex operational contexts and coordination challenges effectively.

Languages:
The mandatory language for this position is English, which is essential for communication within the World Bank Group and with external partners. Additionally, proficiency in French is preferred, as it may enhance engagement with stakeholders in European contexts and facilitate collaboration.
