Job Overview:
The Manager for Climate Strategy, Learning, and Operations (KTCSL) plays a pivotal role within the One Climate Leadership Team at the World Bank Group. This position is designed for a senior professional who will work closely with the Director to address cross-departmental priorities, ensure organizational integration, and oversee operational execution. The Manager is expected to lead a multidisciplinary team, manage strategic climate trust funds, engage with donors, and operationalize the climate Knowledge Bank. This role is crucial for translating leadership priorities into actionable strategies and ensuring that the department's objectives align with the broader goals of the World Bank Group. The Manager will also be responsible for fostering a high-performing team culture and ensuring that the department effectively integrates climate-smart finance into its operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage a multidisciplinary team across various functions and locations, ensuring alignment with departmental priorities and fostering a collaborative team culture.
  • Oversee the integration of the department's Knowledge Bank agenda, translating the One Climate model into practical operating mechanisms.
  • Coordinate the department's strategic trust fund and partnership agenda, ensuring alignment between donor resources and operational demands.
  • Provide strategic oversight of key climate trust funds and partnership platforms, managing donor engagement and governance.
  • Lead the department's knowledge, learning, and climate network agenda, enhancing connectivity across global teams and improving the operational relevance of climate knowledge.
  • Manage finance, portfolio, and operational aspects, providing visibility across budgets and delivery pipelines to support decision-making and transparency.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must meet all Bank-wide Grade GH level position criteria, with experience in at least two world regions or a combination of regional and corporate assignments being preferred. A strong background in climate, environment, and mitigation/adaptation considerations across relevant sectors is essential. Demonstrated team management skills, leadership experience in complex organizational environments, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders are critical. Candidates should possess strong strategic judgment, problem-solving skills, and extensive knowledge of World Bank Group instruments and operational policies. A proven track record in donor engagement and partnership management is also required.

Educational Background:
An advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in a relevant field is required, along with a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in the climate and environmental sectors. Candidates should have a deep understanding of the complexities involved in climate finance and development.

Experience:
Candidates should have significant experience managing complex operational workstreams and portfolio oversight in large, globally matrixed organizations. Experience in leading multidisciplinary teams and managing budgets is essential, along with a strong background in navigating institutional processes and applying corporate frameworks effectively.

Languages:
The mandatory language for this position is English. Proficiency in additional languages is preferred but not required.
