Job Overview: The WASHCoordinator plays a crucial role in developing the strategy for Solidarités International in the Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) sector, including Integrated Water Resource Management (IWRM). This position is responsible for ensuring the quality and relevance of technical approaches and WASH activities in alignment with the needs of local populations. The WASH Coordinator oversees the project cycle, particularly the operational monitoring of WASH programs in the intervention country. This role also involves contributing to the capitalization process and enhancing SI's methods and techniques in WASH. The WASH Coordinator will collaborate closely with clusters to influence sector decisions and work with donor technical teams on assessments, visits, and design" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">program design. The position presents challenges such as opening new areas and leading a team in environments with minimal amenities, requiring strong mental resilience.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and propose a sector-based strategy for WASH, including IWRM, ensuring alignment with local needs and SI objectives.
Guarantee the quality and appropriateness of WASH activities and technical approaches.
Coordinate the project cycle, focusing on operational monitoring of WASH programs.
Contribute to the improvement of SI's methods and techniques in WASH.
Collaborate with clusters and donor technical teams to influence sector decisions and program design.
Support initiatives in East Darfur and Kordofan, reviewing and suggesting WASH strategies for Central and South Darfur.
Provide proposal and reporting support for specific projects.
Ensure strict adherence to security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security protocols in volatile environments.
Lead a team in challenging conditions, demonstrating autonomy and proactivity. 1

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field.
At least two years of experience in a similar position, preferably as a Country WASH Coordinator.
Experience with Solidarités International is highly desirable.
Understanding of the humanitarian coordination structure and technical indicators for response concerning Sphere and other standards.
Strong knowledge of Faecal Sludge Management (FSM), Solid Waste Management (SWM), and Water Resource Management (WRM).
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple departments effectively.
Strong communication skills, both internally and externally.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field related to Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene or humanitarian assistance. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of WASH interventions and the technical requirements of the role.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of two years of experience working as a Country WASH Coordinator or in a similar role. Candidates with experience in humanitarian settings, particularly with Solidarités International, will be preferred. A strong understanding of the humanitarian coordination structure and technical indicators relevant to WASH responses is essential.
Languages: English is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in French and Arabic is considered an asset, enhancing communication with local populations and stakeholders in the field.

The role is based in N'Djamena, where the coordination team is located. The salary starts from EUR 2860 gross per month, which includes a base salary and an annual leave allowance. Additionally, a monthly per diem of USD 750 is provided, along with accommodation costs and travel expenses covered by SI. The organization implements a system of alternating work and time off, allowing for breaks every three months, with an additional rest day granted for each month worked. Expatriates benefit from a comprehensive insurance package covering healthcare expenses and welfare systems, including war risks. The living conditions in N'Djamena are relatively good, with access to leisure facilities and a supportive expatriate community, although social life may be limited in the field due to security constraints.
