Job Overview: The Program Officer will play a crucial role in the day-to-day coordination, planning, documentation, and stakeholder engagement for the STRIDES Bangladesh project. Reporting to the Project Manager, the Program Officer will assist in coordinating the implementation of project activities across various stakeholders, including technical staff, government counterparts, donors, and technical partners. This position requires strong organizational and communication skills, as the Program Officer will work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders at national, divisional, and district levels. The role involves supporting stakeholder mapping, communication planning, and ensuring alignment with project objectives across all 64 districts and 8 divisions in Bangladesh. The Program Officer will also be responsible for tracking implementation of workplan activities, organizing technical meetings, maintaining documentation, and supporting the logistics of trainings and workshops. This position is essential for ensuring the smooth operation and success of the STRIDES project, which aims to strengthen infectious disease detection systems in Bangladesh.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Program Officer will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including:
Supporting the Project Manager in tracking the implementation of approved STRIDES Bangladesh workplan activities, deliverables, timelines, and action points.
Coordinating routine communication with government counterparts, implementing partners, technical teams, and subnational stakeholders.
Organizing and documenting technical meetings, coordination calls, stakeholder consultations, and partner engagement events, including preparing agendas, minutes, participant lists, and action trackers.
Maintaining partner engagement trackers, contact lists, meeting records, and documentation repositories to support institutional memory.
Tracking follow-up actions and commitments across One Health activities to ensure timely updates and accountability.
Supporting the organization and logistics of trainings, workshops, and multisectoral engagement events.
Assisting technical teams in preparing presentations, meeting summaries, and donor-facing materials.
Coordinating activity logistics, including travel arrangements and venue planning.
Consolidating technical and program updates for internal review and donor reporting. 1
Supporting communication and coordination between STRIDES Bangladesh, FHI 360 headquarters, subcontractors, and local partners to ensure smooth information flow.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in public administration, development studies, social sciences, business administration, public health, or a related field, with a Master’s degree preferred. A minimum of 4–6 years of relevant professional experience in program management, stakeholder coordination, or development sector roles is required. Candidates should have demonstrated experience working with government agencies, donors, and implementing partners, as well as experience in coordinating across national and subnational government stakeholders. Strong written and verbal communication skills in both English and Bangla are essential, along with excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and project management tools is also required, as well as the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a dynamic environment.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s degree in public administration, development studies, social sciences, business administration, public health, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred, indicating a higher level of expertise and understanding of the complexities involved in program management and stakeholder engagement within the development sector.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 4–6 years of relevant professional experience. This experience should encompass program management, stakeholder coordination, and roles within the development sector. Candidates should have a proven track record of working with government agencies, donors, and implementing partners, as well as experience in coordinating activities across various levels of government.
Languages: Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Bangla are mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, but English and Bangla are essential for effective communication with stakeholders and partners.
Additional Notes: The position is based in Dhaka, Bangladesh, and may require domestic travel up to 25%. The expected hiring salary range for this role is BDT 1,000,000 - 1,500,000 for annual gross salary.
