Job Overview: The position of Consultor Recopilación de información de campo del departamento Cusco is focused on providing consultancy services for the collection of field information in the Cusco department. This role is crucial for the reformulation of the project aimed at improving support services for sustainable native cacao production in three departments: Piura, Tumbes, Amazonas, and Cusco. The consultant will be expected to engage with local stakeholders, gather relevant data, and contribute to the development of strategies that enhance the cacao value chain. The position requires a deep understanding of local agricultural practices, environmental sustainability, and economic management related to cacao production. The consultant will work closely with UNDP and local partners to ensure that the project objectives are met effectively and efficiently.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be responsible for a variety of tasks including:
Conducting field visits to gather data on cacao production practices in the Cusco region.
Engaging with local farmers and stakeholders to understand their needs and challenges in cacao production.
Analyzing collected data to identify trends and opportunities for improving the cacao value chain.
Developing reports and presentations based on findings to share with UNDP and other stakeholders.
Collaborating with project teams to formulate strategies that enhance sustainable practices in cacao production.
Providing recommendations for interventions that can support local farmers and improve their livelihoods.
Ensuring that all activities align with the project’s goals and UNDP’s mission.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a professional background that includes a university degree (Bachelor's or equivalent) in agronomy, engineering, environmental sciences, economics, natural resource management, biology, or related fields. Additionally, candidates should have postgraduate studies or specialization in Tropical Agronomy, Sustainable Development, Bio-business, and/or Project Management related to productive systems, natural resources, climate change, and biodiversity conservation. This educational background is essential to ensure that the consultant has the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively contribute to the project.
Educational Background: The educational requirements for this position include a university degree in relevant fields such as agronomy, engineering, environmental sciences, economics, or natural resource management. Furthermore, candidates are expected to have completed postgraduate studies or specialized training in areas pertinent to the project, such as Tropical Agronomy, Sustainable Development, or Project Management. This educational foundation is critical for understanding the complexities of sustainable cacao production and the associated environmental and economic factors.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of six (6) years of general professional experience in either the public or private sector. Specifically, candidates should have at least three (3) years of work experience based in the target intervention area (La Convención, Cusco) related to the development of cacao value chains. Additionally, candidates must have completed at least two (2) projects involving diagnosis, formulation, implementation, or evaluation of pre-investment studies and/or business plans focused on the cacao value chain in Cusco. This level of experience is necessary to ensure that the consultant can effectively navigate the local context and contribute to the project's success.
Languages: Proficiency in Spanish is mandatory for this position, as all communications and documentation will primarily be in this language. Knowledge of English is considered an asset, as it may facilitate communication with international stakeholders and enhance the consultant's ability to access a broader range of resources and information relevant to the project.
