Job Overview: The Grants and Partnerships Coordinator position is crucial for ensuring compliance with DRC-led Consortia procedures, donor regulations, and internal guidelines. This role is focused on the country level and involves developing consortium strategies and translating them into actionable plans for consortium partners. The Coordinator provides technical support and guidance to DRC-led Consortia members, emphasizing partner management, coordination, and quality assurance. Key responsibilities include leading the development of high-quality funding proposals, overseeing donor reporting processes, strengthening information management systems, and supporting grants-management capacity-building efforts. The role also involves managing consortium agreements with partners, collaborating closely with partner grants teams on project cycle management, proposal development, donor reporting, and program strategy. Additionally, the Coordinator assists field teams to ensure effective implementation of activities and supports communications and visibility efforts to meet donor visibility requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Grants and Partnerships Coordinator will be responsible for a comprehensive set of duties, including:
Grant Management / Compliance & Reporting: Provide strategic oversight on donor and government compliance requirements, ensuring that DRC-led Consortia and partners operate within a compliant framework. Lead communication with consortium partners regarding donor policies and compliance shifts, ensuring that all parties are informed and prepared. Shape and review key grant agreements, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and risk parameters. Facilitate grant lifecycle processes, ensuring shared understanding and alignment on deliverables. Manage donor reporting cycles, setting standards and guiding partners on messaging.
Funding Opportunities & Proposals: Monitor and assess emerging funding opportunities, advising leadership on positioning and engagement. Conduct research to inform fundraising strategies and maintain a fundraising pipeline. Develop and oversee a Grants Portfolio Dashboard to support decision-making on program performance and compliance risks. Lead the development of competitive proposals and coordinate inputs from consortium partners.
External Communications: Prepare high-quality communication materials and serve as a focal point for donor engagement. Coordinate donor visits and audits, ensuring effective communication of consortium achievements and challenges.
Partnerships & Coordination: Provide oversight of partnership arrangements, ensuring alignment with governance frameworks and donor requirements. Lead the development and negotiation of partner agreements, facilitating regular coordination with partners to ensure coherent implementation. Monitor partner performance and provide strategic guidance to support corrective actions as needed. Foster a collaborative partnership environment and support joint advocacy initiatives.
Required Qualifications: To be considered for this role, candidates must possess at least 6 years of grants management experience with an international NGO. They should have a strong understanding of donor rules, regulations, and procedures, particularly those of US and European donors, EU funding mechanisms, and UN agencies. Proven experience in successfully applying for institutional donor funding and in sub-granting within a consortia structure is essential. Candidates should also demonstrate experience in reporting and managing partnerships effectively.
Educational Background: A Master’s degree in international relations, project management, business administration, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background is essential to understand the complexities of grants management and partnership coordination in an international humanitarian context.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in grants management, particularly within an international NGO setting. This experience should include a deep understanding of donor compliance and reporting requirements, as well as a proven track record in securing funding from institutional donors.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position, as all communication and documentation will be conducted in English. Proficiency in Arabic is considered an asset, as it may facilitate communication with local partners and stakeholders.
Additional Notes: The position offers a one-year contract, which is renewable based on funding availability. It is classified as a non-managerial role and is based in Sana'a, Yemen, with frequent travel to field locations. The duty station is designated as a non-family station. The start date for this position is as soon as possible, and the salary and conditions will be in accordance with the Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment.
