Job Overview:
The UN Volunteer Agente de Atendimento Local will play a crucial role in implementing the Support Plan for the Legal Amazon states and the Forest+ Amazonia Pilot Project. This position requires the volunteer to ensure the technical and analytical accuracy of geospatial products and maintain compliance with eligibility criteria for applicants. The volunteer will work closely with the Project Coordinator and Local Floresta+ coordinator to execute the Working Plan, support state secretariats in data verification, and provide assistance to rural property owners. The role emphasizes the importance of engaging with local communities and stakeholders to increase participation in the Forest+ modalities of Conservation and Recovery, thereby contributing to the overall goals of the project.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The UN Volunteer will be responsible for a variety of tasks including: 1) Preparing and executing the Working Plan in collaboration with the Project Management Unit and Local Coordinator. 2) Supporting the State Secretariat in verifying data from technical service providers for Rural Environmental Registries (CAR). 3) Providing assistance to rural property owners in accessing the Rural Environmental Registry System (SICAR). 4) Helping small family farmers declare their rural properties in CAR and correct their registrations. 5) Supporting technical training events for State Secretariats and institutions that assist rural property owners. 6) Guiding property owners through the process of meeting notifications and rectifications of CAR. 7) Responding to queries regarding the implementation of the Brazilian Forest Code and its benefits. 8) Engaging with potential beneficiaries to join the Floresta+ Amazonia Pilot Project. 9) Performing other related tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the UN Volunteer position should possess strong analytical and technical skills, particularly in geospatial analysis. They should demonstrate a commitment to sustainable development and have the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and be able to provide high-quality support to project beneficiaries. A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances are essential.

Educational Background:
A degree in environmental science, geography, agriculture, or a related field is preferred. Candidates with relevant certifications or training in geospatial analysis or environmental management will be considered favorably. Knowledge of Brazilian environmental legislation and policies, particularly related to deforestation and land use, is advantageous.

Experience:
The position requires prior experience in project management, environmental conservation, or community engagement. Experience working with rural communities or in the agricultural sector is highly desirable. Familiarity with geospatial tools and data analysis is essential, as is the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

Languages:
Fluency in Portuguese is mandatory, as the role involves direct engagement with local stakeholders and communities. Proficiency in English is considered an asset, as it may be necessary for reporting and communication with international partners. Knowledge of additional languages relevant to the local context may also be beneficial.

Additional Notes:
This is a national UN Volunteer assignment based in São Luis, Maranhão, with frequent travel to project areas within the state. The UN Volunteer will be responsible for organizing their own housing and essentials. The position offers a monthly living allowance and benefits, including medical and life insurance.
