Job Overview:
The Assistant Protection Cluster Coordination Officer will play a crucial role in supporting the Protection Cluster in Eastern Ukraine. This position focuses on enhancing data-driven protection coordination, particularly concerning population movements, evacuation trends, and community-level risks. The successful candidate will be responsible for improving the quality and utilization of protection data, strengthening the capacity of local partners, and facilitating timely and principled responses to meet the needs of individuals affected by displacement. The role requires frequent travel across Eastern Ukraine and is offered as a 6-month assignment, reporting directly to the Protection Cluster Coordinator. The position is vital in contributing to the overall protection outcomes in the region, especially in light of the ongoing humanitarian crisis.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Assistant Protection Cluster Coordination Officer will undertake a variety of responsibilities, including: supporting protection monitoring and analysis in frontline regions to inform evidence-based decision-making; providing technical guidance to partners on structured data collection methods; analyzing data related to displacement and protection risks to identify gaps and emerging issues; contributing to data management processes, including assessments and surveys; strengthening coordination with local authorities, NGOs, and community organizations to enhance information flow and protection responses; monitoring legal and policy developments affecting protection and advising on operational implications; developing and implementing guidance and standard operating procedures; and building the capacity of local partners through mentoring and training.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for this position should possess a range of qualifications, including: 3-5 years of experience in humanitarian contexts with a focus on protection operations, coordination, or monitoring; demonstrated experience in data analysis and data-driven programming in complex emergency settings; experience working with local organizations and multi-stakeholder coordination mechanisms; and a proven ability to deliver training and support capacity development for diverse partners. Additionally, candidates should have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in challenging environments.

Educational Background:
A university degree in political science, social sciences, international studies, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background is essential to understand the complexities of humanitarian work and the socio-political dynamics affecting protection efforts in crisis situations.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have 3-5 years of relevant experience in humanitarian contexts, particularly in roles focused on protection operations, coordination, or monitoring. This level of experience is crucial for effectively navigating the challenges associated with displacement and ensuring that protection measures are adequately implemented and monitored.

Languages:
Fluency in both English and Ukrainian is mandatory for this role, as effective communication with local partners and stakeholders is essential. This position is a 6-month assignment based in Dnipro, Ukraine, with frequent travel across Eastern Ukraine. Ukrainian citizenship is required for this role.
