Job Overview:
The Storekeeper position at WHO involves managing the inspection and storage of medical supplies and equipment, ensuring compliance with WHO standards. The role requires maintaining accurate records of inventory, facilitating the distribution of medical supplies to health facilities, and collaborating with logistics and procurement teams. The Storekeeper will play a crucial role in ensuring that health services are adequately supplied, thereby contributing to the overall mission of WHO in promoting health and well-being in the community. The position demands a proactive approach to managing stock levels, ensuring timely deliveries, and maintaining communication with various stakeholders to support health initiatives effectively.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage the inspection of all incoming consignments of medicines and equipment, verifying quality and quantity against purchase orders and shipping documents.
  • Share WHO goods information with warehouse staff to maintain the accuracy of the administrative stock database.
  • Ensure proper storage arrangements of drugs and medical supplies according to WHO Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Undertake quality data entry of inbound and outbound goods stored in warehouses using GIMS/BMS systems.
  • Notify supervisors and prepare reports for pre-expired goods or damaged items for insurance claims or returns.
  • Maintain records and monitor receiving reports and delivery notes of medical supplies and equipment.
  • Maintain regular contact with the WHO Shipping officer regarding shipping document compliance.
  • Participate in the timely delivery and distribution of medical supplies to health facilities based on requests.
  • Conduct periodic physical inspections of stock and provide input for disposal of obsolete items. 1
  • Collaborate with logistics and procurement assistants to finalize payments for deliverables. 1
  • Brief other storekeepers on drug storage SOPs. 1
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Essential qualifications include completion of secondary education and at least three years of progressive experience in warehouse operations, transportation, or logistics. Desirable qualifications include training related to the management and movement of medical goods and relevant experience within the UN system. Candidates should possess good filing and organizational skills, demonstrated time and stress management abilities, and a solid understanding of WHO rules and procedures. Proficiency in stock management systems and Microsoft applications is also required.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a minimum of secondary education. Additional training related to the management and movement of medical goods is desirable, as it would enhance the candidate's ability to perform the duties effectively.

Experience:
Candidates must have at least three years of progressive experience in warehouse operations, transportation, or logistics. Experience within the UN system is considered an asset, as it demonstrates familiarity with international standards and practices in health logistics.

Languages:
Expert knowledge of English and Ukrainian is essential for this position. Intermediate knowledge of other official WHO languages is desirable, as it may facilitate communication in a diverse work environment.

Additional Notes:
The position offers an annual base salary starting at USD 18,063, subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance. Staff members are entitled to 30 days of annual leave.
