Job Overview: The Assistant Departmental Safety Officer (ADSO) plays a crucial role in implementing the safety policy of the department. This position involves supporting the Departmental Safety Officer in identifying, preventing, and monitoring risks associated with various activities, infrastructure, and equipment. The ADSO is expected to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and procedures while actively promoting a strong safety culture within the organization. Duties and Responsibilities: The responsibilities of the ADSO include analyzing accidents and hazardous situations to define corrective and preventive actions, supporting the Departmental Safety Officer in implementing safety actions, participating in the organization of planned evacuations, and engaging in feedback and lessons-learned activities following these exercises. The ADSO will also draft and communicate prevention and safety awareness messages, take part in safety inspections and on-site visits to verify compliance, and identify areas for improvement. Additionally, the ADSO will contribute to monitoring action plans and promoting a strong safety culture within the department.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must be nationals of a CERN Member or Associate Member State and should have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) or a related field. The highest educational qualification required is either a Bachelor's or Master's degree. Applicants must not have previously held a CERN fellow or graduate contract, and those without a university degree or with a PhD are not eligible for this position.
