Job Overview:
The Assistant Departmental Safety Officer (ADSO) plays a crucial role in implementing the safety policy of the department. This position involves supporting the Departmental Safety Officer in identifying, preventing, and monitoring risks associated with various activities, infrastructure, and equipment. The ADSO is expected to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and procedures while actively promoting a strong safety culture within the organization. The role requires participation in safety inspections, drafting safety awareness messages, and contributing to the organization of planned evacuations, thereby ensuring a safe and compliant working environment for all employees.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of the ADSO include analyzing accidents and hazardous situations to define corrective and preventive actions, supporting the Departmental Safety Officer in implementing safety actions, participating in the organization of planned evacuations, and engaging in feedback and lessons-learned activities following these exercises. The ADSO will also draft and communicate prevention and safety awareness messages, take part in safety inspections and on-site visits to verify compliance, and identify areas for improvement. Additionally, the ADSO will contribute to monitoring action plans and promoting a strong safety culture within the department.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be nationals of a CERN Member or Associate Member State and should have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) or a related field. The highest educational qualification required is either a Bachelor's or Master's degree. Applicants must not have previously held a CERN fellow or graduate contract, and those without a university degree or with a PhD are not eligible for this position.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) or a related field. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the complexities of safety regulations and practices within the workplace.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have experience in participating in the analysis of incidents and hazardous situations as part of a safety team. Additionally, experience in supporting safety prevention initiatives and awareness activities, as well as contributing to the preparation and organization of planned evacuation procedures, is essential.

Languages:
The mandatory language for this position is English, both spoken and written. Candidates should also demonstrate a commitment to learning French, which is considered a valuable asset for this role.

Additional Notes:
The contract duration for this position is 24 months, with the possibility of extension up to a maximum of 36 months. The working hours are set at 40 hours per week, and the job is fully onsite. The target start date for this position is September 1, 202

• The role involves work in radiation areas, interventions in underground installations, and exposure to electromagnetic fields under certain conditions. Due to the occupational health risks associated with this position, the selected candidate must obtain medical clearance before a contract offer is confirmed. The compensation includes a monthly stipend ranging from 5266 to 5793 Swiss Francs, which is tax-free, along with 30 days of paid leave per year, comprehensive health insurance coverage, family allowances, and a relocation package.
