Job Overview:
The IT Assistant position at UNESCO Bangkok is crucial for providing technical support to ensure the smooth delivery of corporate IT services, online and hybrid events, and digital media support. The incumbent will work under the authority of the Regional Director and the Chief of Administration and Finance Office, collaborating closely with the UNESCO IT team. The role involves various information technology support duties, focusing on end-user support, event technical requirements, and maintaining audiovisual systems. The IT Assistant will be responsible for understanding corporate setups, rules, regulations, and policies while fulfilling all necessary competencies, skills, and certifications. This position is essential for maintaining operational continuity and enhancing user experience through effective IT support.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The IT Assistant will have a comprehensive set of duties and responsibilities including:
  • IT and End-user Support Services: - Provide first-line IT assistance to ensure continuity of daily operations and effective use of UNESCO systems and tools. - Deliver first-line IT support to users, addressing hardware, software, connectivity, and collaboration tool issues, including those related to online and hybrid events. - Respond to incident calls and service requests, resolving issues at the first point of contact where possible and escalating more complex cases as needed. - Carry out scheduled service requests such as equipment installation, hardware replacement, software deployment, and site surveys. - Document all support actions and outcomes in the automated tracking system. - Provide guidance and on-the-job training to end-users on standard UNESCO applications and digital collaboration platforms. - Identify recurring issues and propose improvements to enhance service quality.
  • Online and Hybrid Events and Digital Media Support: - Serve as a contact person for planning and delivering online, hybrid, and in-person events, ensuring high-quality audiovisual experiences. - Plan, install, configure, test, and operate audiovisual systems for meetings and events, providing real-time technical support. - Coordinate with program teams to prepare technical requirements and conduct system checks. - Maintain AV equipment through routine inspections and troubleshooting. - Prepare and manage digital materials for events, including presentation layouts and platform configurations. - Record, edit, and finalize audio and video content from events.
  • Other Duties: - Perform additional related duties as required to support ICT services and office operations.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires the following qualifications: - Completed secondary education (High School Diploma or equivalent) and/or a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. - Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in IT support or service desk functions for candidates with secondary education, or 1-2 years of relevant experience for candidates with a Bachelor’s degree. - Experience should preferably include end-user IT support, support for online/hybrid meetings, and AV systems.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have completed secondary education (High School Diploma or equivalent) and/or possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred and relevant certifications such as Microsoft (e.g., Azure, M365, Endpoint) or networking/AV-related certifications are desirable.

Experience:
The level of experience required for this position includes a minimum of 4 years in IT support or service desk functions for those with secondary education, or 1-2 years for candidates with a Bachelor’s degree. Experience should ideally encompass end-user IT support, AV systems, and support for online/hybrid meetings.

Languages:
Excellent knowledge of English and Thai (spoken and written) is mandatory. Knowledge of other official UN languages such as Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish would be considered an asset.

Additional Notes:
The contract duration for this position is 12 months, with an initial probationary period of three months. The extension of the Service Contract is subject to satisfactory performance and the availability of funds. The position is open to external candidates, and only those who have the right to live and work in Thailand may apply.
