Job Overview:
The Driver position at CRS is responsible for providing safe, timely, and efficient transportation and delivery services. This role is crucial in ensuring that CRS/Nigeria fleet vehicles are maintained according to both manufacturer and organizational standards. The driver will support routine preventive maintenance, ensuring vehicle reliability, and delivering excellent customer service while adhering to safety and operational procedures. The position requires a proactive approach to vehicle management, including conducting daily inspections, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring that all safety items are present in the vehicle. The driver will also be responsible for accurately recording trips, fuel usage, and vehicle inspections, as well as promptly reporting any incidents or operational concerns. This role is essential for the smooth operation of CRS's transportation needs, directly impacting the efficiency of their humanitarian efforts in the region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Driver will be tasked with providing safe, timely, and professional transportation of staff, visitors, goods, and equipment in accordance with CRS policies and procedures. Key responsibilities include receiving and executing daily transport assignments, conducting thorough daily vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness, and maintaining vehicles in a clean and fueled state. The driver will be responsible for recording all trips, movements, fuel usage, and vehicle inspections accurately in the m-VMS/VMS systems, submitting reports within established timelines. In case of accidents, mechanical faults, or security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security incidents, the driver must report these promptly to the appropriate personnel. The role also involves supporting preventive maintenance activities, performing minor adjustments or emergency repairs when necessary, and ensuring compliance with CRS travel, fleet, safeguarding, and security procedures. The driver will utilize approved routes, GPS, and communication tools to ensure safe and efficient movement, assist with loading and unloading goods, and promote eco-friendly driving practices. Maintaining professionalism and confidentiality while interacting with various stakeholders is also a critical aspect of this role.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of a Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE/GCE O’ Level) or equivalent. A valid Nigerian driver’s license and a good knowledge of Nigerian roads and traffic regulations are essential. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 3–5 years of professional driving experience, preferably with an international non-governmental organization (INGO) or similar entity. Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance, safety procedures, and defensive driving practices is required. Familiarity with GPS, mobile applications, and digital reporting tools such as m-VMS/MS Office is considered an added advantage. The candidate should demonstrate good attention to detail, flexibility, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a minimum of a Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE/GCE O’ Level) or an equivalent qualification. Additionally, a trade school certificate related to vehicle maintenance or driving is considered a plus, as it may enhance the candidate's understanding of vehicle operations and safety protocols.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have a minimum of 3–5 years of professional driving experience. This experience should preferably be within an INGO or similar organization, where the candidate has gained exposure to the unique challenges and requirements of driving in humanitarian contexts. Previous experience working with humanitarian or development organizations is highly valued, as it indicates familiarity with the operational environment and the ability to navigate complex situations effectively.

Languages:
The mandatory language for this position is English, which is required for effective communication in both speaking and writing. Knowledge of additional local languages is considered an added advantage, as it can facilitate better interaction with local communities and stakeholders.
