Job Overview:
The Partnerships Officer position at WFP is designed to provide specialized support and technical analyses to policy and program activities that effectively meet food assistance needs. The role involves working closely with various stakeholders, including government entities, NGOs, and local partners, to ensure the successful implementation of food security initiatives. The officer will be responsible for managing resources, coaching support staff, and responding to operational queries with a degree of independence. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to analyze data related to food assistance needs, resource utilization, and program performance. The officer will also play a key role in capacity building for WFP staff and partners, ensuring that all activities align with WFP’s policies and guidelines.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical support and assist in the development and implementation of various activities and processes within the specific area of work, ensuring alignment with wider program policies and guidelines.
  • Offer specialized project management support to specific programs, ensuring activities are performed within established targets and in accordance with WFP’s policies and procedures.
  • Prepare a range of reports and data analyses, highlighting trends and issues while ensuring deliverables adhere to corporate standards and quality control.
  • Ensure accurate and timely recording of data within the specific technical area of work, maintaining consistency of information presented to stakeholders.
  • Liaise with internal counterparts to support effective collaboration and monitoring of ongoing project activities.
  • Coordinate with local partners, agencies, NGOs, and government institutions to perform accurate food security analyses and ensure efficient delivery of food assistance.
  • Support capacity building of WFP staff, cooperating partners, and national government within the specific technical area.
  • Act as a point of contact for resolving operational queries and problems within the specific technical area of responsibility.
  • Oversee and review the work of support staff, providing practical advice and guidance to meet objectives to agreed standards and deadlines. 1
  • Follow standard emergency preparedness practices to ensure WFP can quickly respond and deploy needed resources to affected areas at the onset of a crisis.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong background in donor engagement, resource mobilization, and the drafting or coordination of funding proposals, donor reports, and contribution agreements within humanitarian or development contexts. They should have experience engaging with senior management, government counterparts, and external partners in high-level or sensitive contexts. Strong analytical, strategic writing, and stakeholder coordination skills across multidisciplinary teams and organizational levels are essential. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate experience working in international, regional, or multicultural environments and coordinating with diverse stakeholders across different organizational levels.

Educational Background:
A completion of secondary school education is required, along with a post-secondary certificate in a related functional area. University studies or a university degree in International Relations, Political Science, Development Studies, Communications, Business Administration, or other related fields is strongly desirable. This educational background will provide the necessary foundation for understanding the complexities of humanitarian work and the operational needs of WFP.

Experience:
The position requires demonstrated experience in donor engagement, resource mobilization, and the drafting or coordination of funding proposals, donor reports, and contribution agreements. Candidates should have a proven track record of engaging and coordinating with senior management, government counterparts, and external partners in high-level or sensitive contexts. Experience in analyzing data and preparing reports related to food security and program performance is also essential.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish is mandatory, and a working knowledge of English is also required. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, enhancing communication with diverse stakeholders and partners.
