Job Overview:
The director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director serves as the legal representative of Humanity & Inclusion in Ukraine, responsible for promoting the organization's reputation and implementing its mandate and strategic objectives. This role involves managing the operational aspects of HI's programs in Ukraine, which include humanitarian and development initiatives. The Country Director is expected to ensure compliance with budget frameworks and organizational policies while actively monitoring the context to identify risks and opportunities. The position requires strong leadership skills to foster a collaborative team environment and to drive organizational transformation in alignment with HI's global standards. The Country Director will also engage with local and international partners, donors, and stakeholders to facilitate effective program implementation and advocacy efforts.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Management: Establish a cohesive team environment, ensuring effective communication and collaboration among program staff and head office colleagues. Recruit and develop direct managers, setting individual objectives and monitoring performance. Promote HI values and ensure compliance with institutional policies. Conduct regular program steering committee meetings with key managers. Drive organizational transformation through continuous improvement of work practices.
  • Deployment of HI Strategy: Lead the development and implementation of the Program’s Operational Strategy, ensuring alignment with HI’s global strategy and external constraints. Develop a fundraising strategy and maintain regular contact with donors. Ensure effective resource allocation and compliance with HI frameworks and standards. Monitor financial control and technical quality in program projects, facilitating internal audits and implementing recommendations.
  • Legal Representation: Act as HI's representative in compliance with local regulations, engaging with local, national, and international authorities. Negotiate operational partnerships and oversee their implementation.
  • Influence and Leadership: Advocate for HI's global messages and develop local advocacy activities in line with the Operational Strategy. Contribute to the evolution of HI's strategies and policies through effective communication and information dissemination.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess at least 5 years of experience in key management positions within international organizations, particularly in humanitarian and emergency programs. Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills are essential, along with the ability to adapt programs to evolving contexts and establish partnerships with local and international stakeholders. Excellent organizational and coordination skills are required, as well as the ability to work in tense and volatile environments with strict security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security measures. Proven experience in negotiations with institutional donors, project writing, and reporting is also necessary.

Educational Background:
A relevant educational background is required, typically including a degree in international relations, humanitarian studies, public administration, or a related field. Advanced degrees may be preferred for this senior management position, reflecting the complexity and responsibilities associated with the role.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in key management roles within international organizations, with a focus on humanitarian and emergency programs. Candidates should demonstrate a track record of successful program management and leadership in challenging environments, showcasing their ability to navigate complex situations and drive organizational objectives.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization and with international partners. Proficiency in Ukrainian or Russian is highly desirable, as it will facilitate effective communication with local stakeholders and enhance program implementation.

This position is for an unaccompanied role, with a 12-month international contract starting from August 1, 202
  • The contract includes social coverage tailored to the mission context, such as unemployment insurance for EU nationals, a pension scheme, and medical coverage with a 50% employee contribution. The salary starts at 3,232€ gross per month, with additional benefits including a net monthly per diem of 578€, a hardship allowance of 500€ net per month, 25 paid leave days per year, and a rest and recuperation (R&R) period of 5 days every 8 weeks. Housing will be provided individually by HI.
