Job Overview: The position of Online Volunteer involves creating a short, engaging, and youth-friendly animated educational video that focuses on the Women, Peace and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Agenda, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, and Gender-Based Violence. The goal is to simplify complex issues into clear, understandable messages for young people and community members. The animated video will serve as a tool for community sensitization, online advocacy, and training sessions, particularly during campaigns like the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence. The volunteer will be responsible for developing the video concept, writing the script, preparing a storyboard, producing the final animated video, and ensuring it is culturally sensitive and survivor-centered.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Online Volunteer will undertake several key responsibilities, including:
Developing a comprehensive video concept that outlines the main themes and messages to be conveyed.
Writing a clear and engaging script that simplifies the technical aspects of the Women, Peace and Security Agenda and related topics.
Preparing a detailed storyboard or scene-by-scene outline to visualize the flow of the animated video.
Producing the final animated video using creative formats such as 2D animation, motion graphics, and animated characters.
Adding subtitles to ensure accessibility and understanding for all viewers.
Creating a shorter version of the video suitable for social media platforms to maximize outreach and engagement.
Ensuring that the content is survivor-centered, non-stigmatizing, and culturally appropriate for use in Cameroon and other African contexts.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for this position should possess strong skills in video production and animation, with a proven ability to create engaging content for youth audiences. Familiarity with the Women, Peace and Security Agenda, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, and Gender-Based Violence is essential. The volunteer should also have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups. A background in social justice, gender studies, or related fields is highly desirable, as is experience in community engagement and advocacy.
Educational Background: A relevant educational background in fields such as media production, animation, graphic design, social sciences, or a related discipline is preferred. Candidates should have a strong understanding of the issues surrounding gender-based violence, women's rights, and community development, as well as experience in creating educational materials or content for advocacy purposes.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have prior experience in video production and animation, with a portfolio showcasing previous work in creating educational or advocacy-related content. Experience working with community organizations or in contexts related to gender equality and women's rights will be an advantage. Familiarity with the challenges faced by women and girls in conflict-affected areas is also beneficial.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, and proficiency in French is highly desirable, given the bilingual nature of Cameroon. Knowledge of local languages spoken in the communities served by CCID would be an added advantage, as it would enhance the accessibility and relatability of the content created.
