Job Overview:
The position of IC - NCHR Research & Policy Expert involves hiring an individual consultant to provide expert research and policy analysis related to the National Commission on Human Rights (NCHR) in Pakistan. The consultant will be expected to conduct thorough research, analyze data, and develop policy recommendations that align with the objectives of the NCHR. This role is crucial for supporting the commission in its mandate to promote and protect human rights in the country. The consultant will work closely with UNDP and other stakeholders to ensure that the research outputs are relevant, actionable, and contribute to the overall mission of enhancing human rights standards in Pakistan. The assignment is set for a total of 100 working days over a period of six months, commencing from the date of signing the contract. The consultant will be responsible for delivering high-quality reports and presentations based on their findings, and will also engage in discussions with various stakeholders to validate their research outcomes.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the IC - NCHR Research & Policy Expert include but are not limited to:
  • Conducting comprehensive research on human rights issues in Pakistan, focusing on areas relevant to the NCHR's mandate.
  • Analyzing existing policies and frameworks related to human rights and identifying gaps and areas for improvement.
  • Developing policy recommendations based on research findings that can be presented to the NCHR and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Preparing detailed reports and presentations that summarize research findings and policy suggestions.
  • Engaging with stakeholders, including government officials, civil society organizations, and international partners, to gather insights and validate research outcomes.
  • Participating in meetings and workshops to discuss research findings and contribute to policy dialogues.
  • Ensuring that all research activities are conducted in accordance with ethical standards and best practices in human rights research.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the IC - NCHR Research & Policy Expert position should possess the following qualifications:
  • A strong background in human rights, law, social sciences, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in conducting research and policy analysis, particularly in the context of human rights.
  • Familiarity with the legal and institutional framework governing human rights in Pakistan.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear and actionable recommendations.

Educational Background:
