Job Overview:
The position of Online Volunteer for UNICEF Guinea-Bissau involves producing communication and visibility materials that highlight the organization's work in the country. The volunteer will create 20 designs, including reports, videos, and animations, specifically for the Conference of the Parties (COP29). This role is crucial for raising awareness about the situation of children in Guinea-Bissau and UNICEF's response to their needs. The volunteer will work closely with the UNICEF Guinea-Bissau Communication Officer and the Communication Associate to ensure that all materials align with UNICEF's branding guidelines and effectively communicate the intended messages to various audiences, including the general public, donors, and stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Create draft designs/products that cater to the target audience while adhering to UNICEF branding guidelines.
  • Develop designs based on specific requirements provided by UNICEF and engage in discussions with the communications team to refine these designs.
  • Implement feedback from UNICEF to make necessary revisions to the designs.
  • Finalize the designs according to the agreed specifications, ensuring that all materials meet corporate design standards.
  • Collaborate with the Communication Officer and Associate to ensure that the designs effectively convey UNICEF's mission and objectives in Guinea-Bissau.
  • Maintain open communication with the team throughout the design process to ensure alignment and clarity on project goals.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should possess strong design skills, particularly in creating visually appealing and impactful communication materials. Familiarity with UNICEF's branding and design guidelines is essential. The volunteer should also have experience in graphic design, video editing, and animation. Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects) is highly desirable. Additionally, the candidate should demonstrate creativity, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Educational Background:
A background in graphic design, communications, or a related field is preferred. Candidates should have relevant coursework or training that demonstrates their design capabilities and understanding of effective communication strategies.

Experience:
Previous experience in graphic design, video production, or related fields is highly beneficial. Candidates should have a portfolio showcasing their design work, particularly in creating materials for non-profit organizations or similar contexts. Experience working with international organizations or in humanitarian settings is a plus.

Languages:
Fluency in Portuguese is mandatory, as it is the official language of Guinea-Bissau. Proficiency in English is also desirable, as it may be necessary for communication with international stakeholders and for understanding UNICEF's global guidelines.
