Job Overview: The Education Technical Assistant will be responsible for the day-to-day implementation of education project activities across target locations in the NRC Area North East office. This role involves ensuring that activities are delivered according to work plans and timelines, conducting regular field visits to monitor project implementation, identifying challenges, and providing timely feedback to the Project Officer. The assistant will also assist in organizing trainings, workshops, meetings, and community engagement sessions, including participant mobilization and logistical arrangements. The position requires maintaining accurate project records, beneficiary data, attendance sheets, and activity reports, as well as supporting community mobilization and engagement with various groups to promote access to education. The role emphasizes the implementation of safe, inclusive, gender-sensitive, and conflict-sensitive education activities, and involves the distribution of educational materials and support for children at risk of dropping out.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Education Technical Assistant include supporting the day-to-day implementation of education project activities, conducting regular field visits to monitor project implementation, assisting in organizing trainings and community engagement sessions, maintaining accurate project records, supporting community mobilization, distributing educational materials, collecting routine monitoring data, assisting in identifying children at risk of dropping out, working closely with teachers and facilitators, supporting accountability mechanisms, and preparing weekly updates and activity reports. Specific responsibilities include supporting the Education Officer in implementing the Project Work plan, monitoring activities in schools and centers, working with School-Based Management Committees (SBMCs) to address protection concerns, and ensuring regular data collection and reporting.
Required Qualifications: The position requires at least 3 years of teaching experience in primary school, pre-primary, or any other formal or non-formal learning institution. Candidates should have experience in community development initiatives, a high level of personal integrity, and sensitivity to adult psychology. A strong command of English methodology, including oral skills, is essential, along with knowledge of participatory and learner-centered methods, children's rights, and global education standards. Experience in project management within a humanitarian or recovery context is also required.
Educational Background: Candidates must be Nigerian citizens and hold a bachelor's degree in education from a reputable institution. They should have undergone training in and demonstrate a strong mastery of education and psychosocial-support" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">psychosocial support approaches for children.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 3 years of teaching experience, an understanding of child protection issues in schools, and experience working with children with disabilities or special needs education. Experience in complex and volatile contexts is also necessary.
Languages: Good knowledge of English is mandatory, and knowledge of the local language is considered an asset.
Additional Notes: The position is based in Monguno, Borno State, Nigeria, with a contract duration of 6 months, which may be extended. It is classified as Grade 4 in NRC's grading structure, and the reporting line is to the Field Coordinator.
