Job Description
Job Posting Organization:
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is a global organization that operates in nearly 170 countries and territories. Established to help eradicate poverty and reduce inequality and exclusion, UNDP focuses on developing policies, leadership skills, and institutional capabilities. The organization plays a crucial role in advancing the global sustainable development agenda, particularly through the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which aims to address various global challenges over the next 15 years. UNDP's mission encompasses three main areas: sustainable development, democratic governance and peacebuilding, and climate and disaster resilience. The organization is committed to protecting human rights and empowering marginalized groups, including women and minorities, in all its activities.

Job Overview:
The position involves developing two PowerPoint presentations that will support UNDP's ongoing work in gender and recovery. This role is critical in enhancing knowledge sharing and capacity building on gender-responsive crisis recovery, directly contributing to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 16, which focuses on peace, justice, and strong institutions, as well as SDG 5, which promotes gender equality. The outputs from this assignment will be utilized by UNDP’s Crisis Bureau, country offices, and partner organizations engaged in gender-responsive recovery efforts. The volunteer will be responsible for translating complex concepts into accessible and engaging formats, ensuring that the presentations effectively communicate the core components of the Gender and Recovery Toolkit and the Annual Women, Peace, and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Report.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The volunteer will be tasked with the following responsibilities:
  • Develop a PowerPoint presentation for the Gender and Recovery Toolkit, which serves as a comprehensive framework for integrating gender perspectives into crisis response and recovery efforts. This presentation should summarize the toolkit's core components, which span approximately 200 pages, into an engaging format suitable for capacity building.
  • Create a PowerPoint presentation for the Annual Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) Report, which highlights UNDP's progress and initiatives in advancing the Women, Peace, and Security agenda. This presentation should distill key messages from the 30-page report into a clear and impactful visual format, suitable for high-level advocacy and stakeholder engagement.
  • Ensure that both presentations are visually appealing, concise, and effectively communicate the intended messages to the target audience.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should possess strong skills in PowerPoint presentation development, with a proven ability to create visually engaging and informative presentations. Familiarity with gender issues, crisis response, and recovery efforts is highly desirable. The candidate should also demonstrate excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and have the ability to synthesize complex information into accessible formats. Additionally, experience working with international organizations or in the field of gender equality and women's empowerment will be an advantage.

Educational Background:
A background in social sciences, international development, gender studies, or a related field is preferred. Candidates should have a solid understanding of gender issues and their implications in crisis contexts, as well as familiarity with UNDP's mission and objectives.

Experience:
While specific years of experience may not be required, candidates should have relevant experience in developing presentations, particularly in the context of gender and recovery. Experience working with international organizations or in roles that involve gender equality initiatives will be beneficial. The ability to work independently and manage time effectively is essential, as the volunteer will be expected to deliver high-quality outputs within a specified timeframe.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as all presentations will be developed in English. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly those relevant to UNDP's work in various countries, would be considered an asset but is not required.

Additional Notes:
This is a remote volunteer position, and the duration of the assignment is not specified. The role is part-time and may require flexibility in hours to accommodate project deadlines. The volunteer will not receive financial compensation but will gain valuable experience working with a leading international organization focused on sustainable development and gender equality.
