Job Overview:
The Online Volunteers will play a crucial role in supporting FAO’s International Day of Potato Campaign by creating promotional materials that will be used in supermarkets and public awareness activities. This campaign is designed to enhance public knowledge about potatoes and sustainable food systems through engaging visual communication. The volunteers will be responsible for producing high-quality graphic design materials that effectively communicate the campaign's message and engage the target audience. Their work will contribute significantly to FAO's broader communication and outreach efforts aimed at promoting sustainable agriculture and food security.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Online Volunteers will be tasked with several key responsibilities, including:
  • Collecting comprehensive information regarding the campaign's background, target audience, branding guidelines, and specific design requirements.
  • Designing various digital materials such as cards, posters, and display items intended for use in supermarkets and promotional areas.
  • Adapting content provided by FAO into visually appealing formats that are suitable for both display and print.
  • Creating initial draft designs and revising them based on constructive feedback from the Communications team.
  • Preparing final design files that meet the necessary specifications for both digital and print production.
  • Working efficiently to meet tight deadlines while ensuring that all designs adhere to FAO's corporate branding guidelines, which will be provided to the volunteers prior to the commencement of their tasks. It is important to note that all materials created during this campaign will remain the intellectual property of FAO.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates should possess strong graphic design skills and experience in creating promotional materials. Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) is essential. Additionally, candidates should have a good understanding of branding and marketing principles, as well as the ability to work collaboratively within a team. Strong communication skills are also necessary to effectively gather information and feedback from the Communications team.

Educational Background:
A background in graphic design, visual communication, or a related field is preferred. Candidates should ideally have completed or be pursuing a degree in design or a similar discipline, which provides them with the foundational skills necessary for this role.

Experience:
Previous experience in graphic design, particularly in creating promotional materials for campaigns or events, is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate a portfolio of relevant work that showcases their design capabilities and creativity. Experience working under tight deadlines and managing multiple projects simultaneously will be advantageous.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as all communications and materials will be developed in this language. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly those relevant to the target audience of the campaign, would be considered a plus but is not required.

Additional Notes:
This position is voluntary and is expected to be part-time, with specific hours to be determined based on project needs. The role is open to individuals who can work remotely, allowing for flexibility in location. Volunteers will receive guidance and support from the FAO communications team throughout the project.
