Job Overview:
The Pharmacist position at UNRWA involves overseeing the daily operations of the pharmacy within a health center, ensuring compliance with Health Department policies and procedures. The incumbent will report to the Head of the Health Center and receive technical supervision from the Field Pharmaceutical Services Officer. This role includes supervising pharmacy staff, dispensing medications, maintaining inventory, and providing guidance on medication use and potential side effects to patients. The pharmacist will also be responsible for documenting medication movements and ensuring the cleanliness of the dispensary. The position requires a proactive approach to managing pharmacy operations and a commitment to providing high-quality pharmaceutical care to patients.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent will be responsible for coordinating and implementing the day-to-day operations of the pharmacy, ensuring adherence to relevant policies and procedures. This includes supervising pharmacy staff, assisting in performance reviews, and providing technical guidance and training. The pharmacist will participate in dispensing medications, maintaining accurate records of medicine movements, and ensuring the availability of essential drugs. They will provide advice to patients on medication intake, potential side effects, and interactions with other substances. Additionally, the pharmacist will advise medical officers on medication-related issues, educate patients and groups on medication use, and produce periodic reports on dispensary activities. Maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the dispensary is also a key responsibility, along with performing any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a University Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited institution, which typically requires five to six years of study. Additionally, a valid license to practice pharmacy in Syria is mandatory. The role demands a strong understanding of pharmaceutical practices and the ability to apply technical expertise in a healthcare setting. Candidates should demonstrate effective communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively with healthcare professionals, and a commitment to providing high-quality patient care.

Educational Background:
The educational requirement for this position is a University Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited educational institution. This degree should encompass a comprehensive understanding of pharmaceutical sciences, including pharmacology, medicinal chemistry, and pharmacy practice. The candidate must also hold a valid pharmacy license in the country of duty station, which is essential for legal practice in the field.

Experience:
Candidates must have at least four years of progressively responsible and relevant professional experience in a similar role. This experience should include direct involvement in pharmacy operations, patient care, and collaboration with healthcare teams. Familiarity with health applications and the use of computers in a pharmacy setting is also required. The role may involve additional outside activities, which should be disclosed in the application process.

Languages:
For this position, proficiency in English and Arabic is required. Knowledge of French is considered an asset but is not mandatory for this role.

Additional Notes:
The contract type for this position is a 'Daily Paid' contract modality for a duration of up to three months, with the possibility of extension based on the organization's needs, availability of funds, and satisfactory performance. The position is classified at Grade HL03, with a daily rate of 25.77 USD. Employees are entitled to one day of annual leave and one day of sick leave for each completed month of service. This vacancy is open to external candidates, but only those residing in Syria and within commuting distance of the duty station (Damascus) are eligible to apply.
