Job Overview:
The Senior Safeguards Analyst (State Declarations) is a pivotal role within the IAEA's Department of Safeguards, which is responsible for verifying that nuclear materials are not diverted from peaceful uses. Duties and Responsibilities:
The Senior Safeguards Analyst will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including: providing authoritative technical expertise related to nuclear material accounting and additional protocol declarations; developing policies and procedures for analytical processes; leading teams to address complex issues and develop innovative solutions; coordinating in-depth analyses of nuclear activities in assigned States; contributing to State evaluations through detailed analysis of reports and declarations; supporting capacity building for State representatives on nuclear material accounting; advising on safeguards agreements; initiating new analytical projects; mentoring junior colleagues; and ensuring effective knowledge sharing within the organization. The analyst will also play a key role in developing safeguards approaches and delivering training across the Department.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's Degree in a relevant field such as physics, chemistry, nuclear engineering, accounting, information science, or international relations. Alternatively, a Bachelor's Degree with two additional years of relevant experience may be considered. The position requires a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in the nuclear industry or related organizations, with a strong background in information management and analysis related to nuclear non-proliferation. Proven experience in leading teams and producing high-quality analytical reports is essential, along with familiarity with IT systems for handling large datasets.

Educational Background:
The educational requirements for this position include an advanced university degree (Master's) in sciences, nuclear engineering, or a related field. A Bachelor's degree may be acceptable if accompanied by additional relevant experience. The focus should be on disciplines that provide a strong foundation in nuclear science and information management.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have at least 10 years of relevant experience in the nuclear sector, particularly in roles involving information management and analysis related to nuclear non-proliferation. Experience with sensitive information handling and familiarity with analytical methodologies is also crucial.

Languages:
