This role focuses on enhancing decent employment opportunities for women by fostering gender-responsive workplaces and building transformative partnerships with the private sector. The analyst will work closely with the Regional Private Sector Specialist and the Tunisia Country Office team to implement the private sector component of the EU-funded programme, which is designed to support women's employment in the MENA region. The position requires a proactive approach to engage with various stakeholders, including private sector companies, to promote gender-responsive policies and practices that facilitate women's employment.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Private Sector Development Analyst will be responsible for a wide range of duties including:
Supporting the expansion and maintenance of the network of Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEP) signatory companies in Tunisia.
Assisting Tunisian companies in implementing gender-responsive policies aimed at increasing women's employment.
Participating in the assessment of gender-responsive procurement practices to integrate more women-owned businesses into corporate supply chains.
Identifying and documenting employment and income-generation opportunities for women through private sector partnerships.
Contributing to the national target of creating 47,000 new jobs for women by 2030 under the SWEI initiative.
Engaging with stakeholders at the national level, including public and private actors and the EU Delegation.
Providing technical assistance to companies on WEP principles and developing tailored gender action plans.
Organizing workshops, training sessions, and peer learning events for private sector actors.
Coordinating the mapping and engagement of private sector companies to create employment opportunities for women. 1
Maintaining partnerships with relevant stakeholders, including government entities, business associations, and chambers of commerce. 1
Tracking and reporting on private sector results against programme indicators and documenting success stories of companies advancing women's employment.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong understanding of women’s economic empowerment and private sector partnerships for gender equality and women's empowerment (GEWE). They should have strong analytical skills, the ability to synthesize program performance data, and produce analytical reports to inform management decisions. Networking skills are essential, as is the ability to identify trends and opportunities for fundraising. A solid knowledge of the Arab region and the ability to write policy papers and briefings are also required.
Educational Background: A Master’s degree or equivalent in economics, sustainable development, social sciences, or other relevant fields is required. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.
Experience: At least 2 years of progressively responsible work experience in development, implementation, monitoring, and reporting on programmes related to gender and the private sector is required. Experience in providing advisory support to the private sector on women’s economic empowerment is essential. Knowledge of women’s economic empowerment in the Arab States is also required. Experience in capacity building for government stakeholders, private sector partners, and civil society organizations is desirable, as is experience working with the UN.
Languages: Fluency in French and Arabic is mandatory for this position. A working level of English is considered a strong asset, enhancing communication and collaboration with international stakeholders.
