Job Overview:
The Senior coordinator" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Grants Coordinator plays a crucial role in the IRC's Grants Team, which collaborates with program, finance, and development teams across Seattle, Spokane, and Missoula. This position is responsible for managing the entire spectrum of pre- and post-award activities, which includes preparing concept notes, proposals, and budgets, ensuring compliance with internal approval processes, and aligning with the requirements set forth by public agencies, private foundations, and other funding sources. The Senior Grants Coordinator will oversee a diverse grant portfolio that supports over 10 program areas and includes more than 100 funding streams. This role requires collaboration with senior leadership, finance, and program teams, as well as technical assistance teams and business development units at headquarters. The position also involves supervising a Grants Administrator and reporting to the Senior Manager of Development & Strategic Engagement.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Senior Grants Coordinator include:
  • Grants Coordination: Regular consultation with Program Leads and Senior Leadership to assess funding opportunities and program needs. Management of the IRC Washington funding prospect and proposal calendar. Coordination of the go/no-go decision process for funding opportunities.
  • Proposal Development (Pre-Award): Leading the development of concept notes and grant proposals, ensuring compliance with funder requirements. Providing grant writing expertise and reviewing funding opportunities for compliance.
  • Grants Management (Post-Award): Coordinating grant negotiations and ensuring compliance with contract terms. Collaborating with finance and program teams to modify budgets and manage post-award processes.
  • Supervision & Training: Direct supervision of the Grants Administrator, identifying areas for skill development and providing support for professional growth.
  • Systems & Accountability: Managing process management tools to track opportunities and reporting, ensuring timely updates to senior management.
  • Key Working Relationships: Maintaining relationships with internal teams and external partners, including public funders and community service partners.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess significant professional experience (3+ years) in non-profit business development, proposal development, grant writing, or grant management. A proven track record of successful proposal development, including the number of proposals submitted and awards received, is essential. Experience in coordinating a robust grant portfolio, including compliance and reporting, is required. Formal grant writing training is strongly preferred, along with certification or continuing education in project management or fundraising. Experience in managing and developing staff skills in proposal development is also necessary.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in a relevant field is typically required for this position. Advanced degrees or specialized training in non-profit management, public administration, or related fields may be advantageous and could enhance a candidate's qualifications.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least three years of relevant professional experience in non-profit sectors, particularly in areas related to grant writing, management, and business development. Experience in a multi-cultural environment and familiarity with government funding processes at various levels (federal, state, and local) is highly desirable.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Additional language skills, particularly those relevant to the communities served by the IRC, are considered a plus and may enhance a candidate's application.

Additional Notes:
This position offers a flexible hybrid work environment, allowing for both remote and in-office work. Occasional travel to Spokane, Seattle, or Missoula may be required depending on the candidate's home location. The compensation for this role ranges from $80,168.40 to $80,837.14, depending on various factors such as labor market conditions, job type, and individual candidate experience.
