Job Overview:
The position of Driver at UNHCR involves not only driving official vehicles but also maintaining and ensuring the operational readiness of these vehicles. The Driver will be supervised by the Administrative Officer or another designated staff member. The Driver is expected to engage with various stakeholders, including UNHCR staff, partners, and government authorities, while ensuring the safe and efficient transport of personnel and materials. The position is critical in supporting the operational functions of UNHCR, contributing to the overall mission of providing assistance and protection to those in need.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Driver will be responsible for a variety of tasks including: driving UNHCR vehicles for transporting authorized personnel, delivering and collecting documents, and facilitating immigration and customs formalities. Daily maintenance of the assigned vehicles is essential, which includes checking oil, water, battery, brakes, and tires to ensure the vehicles are roadworthy. The Driver must perform minor repairs, keep the vehicle clean, and log official trips, including daily mileage and fuel consumption. In case of an accident, the Driver must follow established procedures and ensure valid documentation for passengers and cargo. Additionally, the Driver is expected to support risk management and decision-making processes related to their responsibilities.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a valid driving license and have knowledge of driving rules and regulations. Essential qualifications include experience in driving and basic vehicle mechanical skills. Desirable qualifications are not specified, but prior experience with UNHCR or similar organizations is advantageous. Educational Background:

Languages:

  • The role is open to Moldovan citizens or individuals with the legal status to work in Moldova. UNHCR offers a competitive compensation package, including an annual net salary ranging from MDL 188,622 to MDL 220,062, depending on experience. Staff members accrue annual leave at a rate of 2.5 working days per month, and they are enrolled in the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund.
