Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct a comprehensive assessment of existing biodiversity policies and incentives in Cuba.
Engage with stakeholders to gather insights and perspectives on biodiversity challenges and opportunities.
Develop a set of recommendations for enhancing incentives that promote biodiversity conservation.
Prepare detailed reports and presentations summarizing findings and recommendations.
Facilitate workshops and discussions with stakeholders to validate findings and refine recommendations.
Ensure that all deliverables are submitted on time and meet the quality standards set by UNDP.
Maintain clear communication with UNDP project managers and other relevant parties throughout the consultancy period.
Required Qualifications:
Proven expertise in biodiversity conservation, environmental science, or a related field.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex information into actionable recommendations.
Experience working with governmental and non-governmental organizations in the field of biodiversity.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Familiarity with the socio-economic context of Cuba and its impact on biodiversity.
Educational Background: A Master's degree or higher in Environmental Science, Ecology, Biodiversity Conservation, or a related field is required. Additional certifications or training in project management or stakeholder engagement would be advantageous.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in biodiversity conservation or environmental consultancy is required. Experience working in Cuba or similar contexts is highly desirable. Proven track record of successfully managing consultancy projects and delivering high-quality outputs within set timelines is essential.
Languages: Fluency in Spanish is mandatory, as the primary language of communication will be Spanish. Proficiency in English is considered an asset, particularly for accessing international resources and literature related to biodiversity.
Additional Notes: This consultancy is for a fixed term of 30 effective days, with the possibility of extension based on project needs and performance. The position is classified as an individual contractor role, and candidates may be recruited nationally or internationally.
