Job Overview: The Consultant Reports/Advocacy Officer position is crucial for the Country Office, focusing on enhancing corporate reporting, ensuring coherent communications, and systematizing evidence production for policy influence. The role requires a proactive individual who can manage multiple tasks, including drafting reports, coordinating inputs from various departments, and developing communication materials that align with WFP's strategic goals. The officer will be responsible for producing high-quality reports and communications products that meet corporate standards and deadlines. This position also involves working closely with various stakeholders to ensure that narratives, budgets, and results frameworks are consistent and compelling, ultimately translating evidence into actionable policy recommendations. Duties and Responsibilities: The Consultant Reports/Advocacy Officer will undertake a variety of tasks under the direct supervision of the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director, including: 1) Leading the annual ACR drafting process by developing timelines, templates, and contributor guidance while coordinating inputs across multiple departments. 2) Producing and maintaining a Country Brief Pack that includes thematic briefs and donor one-pagers, as well as preparing ad hoc briefs for missions and media. 3) Drafting and consolidating inputs for UNSDCF Results Groups, ensuring alignment with agency outputs and tracking deadlines. 4) Mapping existing analytic products and designing an evidence taxonomy to maintain a searchable evidence library. 5) Developing an annual policy output plan that prioritizes key policy questions and converting evidence into policy notes and presentations. 6) Leading the narrative package for major budget revisions and ensuring coherence between financials and results. 7) Overseeing communications efforts and establishing an advocacy plan that aligns with program priorities. 8) Establishing editorial standards and coaching colleagues on effective communication practices.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in Political Science, Economics, Statistics, Information Management, Journalism, Communications, Business Management, Social Sciences, or a related field. Alternatively, a first university degree with additional years of relevant work experience and/or training may be considered. Candidates should have a sound theoretical understanding of OIM concepts and principles, along with strong analytical skills to interpret information and articulate insights effectively. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential, as is the ability to lead and motivate teams. Familiarity with UN/WFP processes and systems is also required.
Educational Background: The position requires an advanced university degree in a relevant field such as Political Science, Economics, Statistics, Information Management, Journalism, Communications, Business Management, or Social Sciences. A first university degree combined with additional relevant experience may also be acceptable. The educational background should provide a solid foundation for understanding the complexities of humanitarian work and the ability to engage with various stakeholders effectively.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of postgraduate professional experience in a relevant field, particularly in international humanitarian development. This experience should demonstrate a background and interest in the sector, showcasing the ability to manage complex reporting and advocacy tasks effectively. Experience in coordinating with multiple stakeholders and producing high-quality reports is essential.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the working language of WFP. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly those relevant to the region, would be considered an asset and could enhance the candidate's profile.
