This office was created as part of the UN reform to harmonize and simplify UN activities in smaller nations. The Joint Office operates under a unified organizational structure and a common country program that integrates the mandates of the participating agencies. It aims to provide comprehensive support to the Government of Cabo Verde and is aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework for 2023-2027, which focuses on sustainable development goals (SDGs) and partnerships.

Job Overview:
The UN Volunteer position involves working under the direct supervision of the Resident Representative of UNDP, UNFPA, and UNICEF. The role is primarily focused on resource mobilization, which includes implementing and updating the Joint Office's resource mobilization strategy, identifying funding opportunities, and drafting various reports and proposals. The volunteer will also engage in strategic meetings with stakeholders, conduct research on funding trends, and assist in advocacy efforts. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with three significant UN agencies and contribute to the integration of UN programs in Cabo Verde.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The UN Volunteer will be responsible for a variety of tasks including: implementing and updating the Joint Office's resource mobilization strategy; identifying funding and partnership opportunities; drafting programmatic and management reports; preparing funding proposals and impact reports; developing monitoring and evaluation mechanisms; participating in strategic meetings with government and civil society; conducting research on funding trends; analyzing donor environments; assisting in advocacy efforts by preparing documentation; developing communications materials; organizing donor missions; and collaborating with regional offices and HQ for advocacy and fundraising activities.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates should possess strong analytical and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. They should have experience in resource mobilization, report writing, and stakeholder engagement. Familiarity with UN operations and sustainable development goals is highly desirable. The ability to adapt to changing circumstances and work under pressure is essential.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in international relations, development studies, public administration, or a related field is required. A master's degree in a relevant discipline would be an advantage.

Experience:

The position is full-time, and the UNV Field Unit will assist with temporary accommodation upon arrival. The cost of living in Cabo Verde can be high due to the importation of goods, and housing options vary significantly. The volunteer will need a valid passport and visa to enter Cabo Verde, with the possibility of obtaining a visa upon arrival.
