Job Overview:
The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is designed to provide substantive and organizational support to the UN Turkiye COP31 Task Team, focusing on climate change and related themes. Interns will engage in various activities that contribute to the preparation and execution of events and meetings involving multiple stakeholders, including UN agencies, government bodies, civil society organizations, and the private sector. The role emphasizes the importance of research, data management, and communication, allowing interns to gain hands-on experience in international environmental governance and advocacy. Interns will be expected to assist in drafting materials, organizing meetings, and compiling analytical inputs on critical issues such as climate finance and sustainable development, thereby enhancing their understanding of the UN's operational frameworks and collaborative efforts in addressing climate challenges.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the guidance of the supervisor, the intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including: providing substantive and organizational support to the UN Turkiye COP31 Task Team; assisting in the organization of meetings, consultations, and coordination platforms; preparing background materials, drafting agendas, taking meeting minutes, and producing summary reports; conducting research and data management related to climate change and sustainable development; contributing to the drafting of briefing notes, talking points, concept notes, and presentations; developing communication and visibility materials; and contributing to internal coordination updates and progress reports. The intern may also work on areas such as circular economy, waste management, international law" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">environmental law, and communication and outreach, depending on the needs of the team.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Master’s program in Environmental Science, International Relations, or a related field. Prior experience in event coordination, environmental advocacy, or research is considered an asset. A good knowledge of climate change issues and climate financing is desired, as well as strong organizational and communication skills. The ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team environment is essential, along with a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to the UN's values and principles.

Educational Background:
The position requires candidates to be enrolled in or have recently graduated from a Master’s program. Relevant fields of study include Environmental Science, International Relations, or other related disciplines that provide a strong foundation for understanding climate change and sustainable development issues.

Experience:
While prior experience is not mandatory, candidates with experience in event coordination, environmental advocacy, or research will have an advantage. The internship is designed for individuals who are looking to gain practical experience in the field of international relations and environmental governance, particularly in the context of the United Nations.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required for the internship, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of an additional official UN language, such as French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish, is considered an advantage and may enhance the candidate's application.
