Job Overview:
The coordinator" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Grants Coordinator plays a key role in developing and monitoring the partnership and financial strategy of the mission. This position involves interdepartmental coordination and providing strategic support on donor relations, contract cycle management, implementation partnerships, external compliance, and accountability to funders. The Grants Coordinator is also responsible for drafting project proposals in collaboration with the Deputy Country Director for Programs. The mission of Solidarités International in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) began in 2001, focusing on humanitarian needs arising from conflicts and natural disasters while contributing to the fight against epidemics. The mission primarily operates in the sectors of food security and livelihoods, water, hygiene, sanitation, and multi-sector cash assistance. The approach reflects the mission's strategy to maintain a strong capacity for emergency response while developing sustainable solutions to structural issues affecting populations in the eastern part of the country.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Grants Coordinator's responsibilities include:
  • Developing and monitoring the partnership and financial strategy of the mission.
  • Coordinating interdepartmental efforts to ensure alignment on donor relations and compliance.
  • Supporting the mission in managing the contract cycle and partnerships for implementation.
  • Ensuring accountability to funders through compliance with external regulations.
  • Drafting high-quality project proposals in collaboration with the Deputy Country Director for Programs.
  • Managing the challenges associated with the recent opening of the South Kivu base, including limited human resources and the need to cover a strategically important area for donors.
  • Advocating with donors to increase the budget allocation for support functions.
  • Strategizing on maintaining activities in North Kivu amidst shifting funding priorities.
  • Coordinating various teams and stakeholders to produce harmonized and precise project documents. 1
  • Preparing for the 2027 proposal season and actively participating in the development of the overall 2027 strategy for the DRC mission.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree (bachelor's or master's) and/or a postgraduate degree in project management, international development, humanitarian studies, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience in grant management within the humanitarian sector. A minimum of one year of experience in a similar position is required. Candidates should demonstrate excellent internal and external communication skills. Experience with Solidarités International is considered an asset.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a university degree in relevant fields such as project management, international development, or humanitarian studies. Alternatively, equivalent professional experience in grant management within the humanitarian sector may be accepted in lieu of formal education.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of one year of experience in a similar role, particularly in grant management within the humanitarian sector. Candidates should have a proven track record of managing donor relations and compliance, as well as experience in drafting project proposals and reports.

Languages:
Fluency in French is mandatory, and proficiency in English is considered a strong asset. Candidates should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills in both languages to effectively engage with internal and external stakeholders.

  • The role is based in Goma, Democratic Republic of the Congo. The salary for this position starts at EUR 2860 gross per month, which includes a base salary of EUR 2600 plus a 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly. Solidarités International covers housing costs and travel expenses between the expatriate's home country and the duty station. The organization implements a work-leave system, allowing for breaks every three months, with additional rest days accrued for each month worked. Expatriates receive comprehensive health insurance covering medical expenses, including dental and optical care, as well as repatriation costs. Vaccination and malaria treatment costs are reimbursed. Living conditions include accommodation in guesthouses with private rooms and bathrooms, access to varied and quality food, and opportunities for recreational activities. Security measures are in place, with evolving rules based on the context and curfews that may change according to the area.
