Job Overview:
The Project Assistant position at UNESCO involves providing comprehensive administrative and operational support for the UNESCO Myanmar Project on the System Capacity Grant (SCG). The incumbent will work under the supervision of the Head of the Myanmar Project Antenna and the programme specialist, contributing to the effective implementation of educational programs in Myanmar. The role requires tracking and reporting on program activities, preparing project evaluations, and ensuring compliance with budgetary requirements. The Project Assistant will also support outreach activities, partnership initiatives, and special events, ensuring that all administrative processes are executed efficiently. This position is critical in maintaining the smooth operation of the project and ensuring that all activities align with UNESCO's mission to promote inclusive, equitable, and quality education in Myanmar.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Project Assistant will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
  • Tracking and reporting on program activities, preparing evaluations, and monitoring project budgets to ensure compliance with financial regulations.
  • Supporting program administration by preparing for outreach activities, gathering background information, and drafting reports and presentations.
  • Assessing administrative support needs for meetings and events, coordinating office support services, and managing contractual documents.
  • Guiding project/programme reporting requirements and assisting with HR-related initiatives, including travel arrangements and documentation processing.
  • Maintaining and updating project documentation and records, ensuring that all files are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Performing additional activities as required to ensure the success of the work team, including handling routine administrative tasks and providing general office assistance.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must have completed secondary education and/or possess a Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, finance, accounting, management, education, social sciences, or related fields. They should have a minimum of five years of relevant experience in administration or program support services if they have secondary education, or a minimum of two years of experience if they hold a Bachelor’s Degree. Proven experience in providing administrative and logistical support as part of a project team is essential. Candidates should also possess excellent computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office, and demonstrate a capacity for accuracy and attention to detail in their work.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes completed secondary education and/or a Bachelor’s Degree in relevant fields such as business administration, finance, accounting, management, education, or social sciences. A higher degree in international development is considered desirable but not mandatory.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of five years of relevant experience in administration or program support services for candidates with secondary education, or at least two years of experience for those with a Bachelor’s Degree. Experience within the UN System or international organizations is advantageous, as is experience in conducting research and working in the field of ICT.

Languages:
Candidates must have excellent knowledge of English and Myanmar, both spoken and written. Proficiency in these languages is mandatory for effective communication and documentation in the role.

Additional Notes:
