Job Overview: The Senior IT Program Officer plays a crucial role within the Information and Technology Solutions (ITS) Vice Presidential Unit (VPU) at the World Bank Group. This position is responsible for driving program-level execution discipline across the unit, ensuring that projects and products are planned, tracked, and reported in a standardized manner. The officer will work closely with unit leadership to align strategic objectives with delivery plans and execution cadence. The role involves tracking priorities, dependencies, risks, and actions across the portfolio, ensuring that stakeholders receive timely and coherent information for decision-making. Duties and Responsibilities: The Senior IT Program Officer is tasked with a variety of responsibilities that include: defining and implementing a standardized approach to program and project management across teams; developing and enforcing common templates for planning, roadmaps, status tracking, reporting, and value streaming; establishing clear governance practices for teams; introducing structured methods for prioritization aligned with unit and organizational goals; working with product owners and solution architects to rationalize competing demands; ensuring roadmaps are realistic and regularly updated; defining a consistent approach to managing scope changes; supporting teams in evaluating trade-offs between scope, timeline, and resources; tracking progress and key performance indicators (KPIs) across multiple projects; ensuring visibility and management of dependencies across teams; driving corrective actions when delivery deviates from the plan; acting as a coordination layer across teams to reduce silos; advising and shaping leadership decision-making; and overseeing leadership communications to ensure accuracy and effectiveness.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for the Senior IT Program Officer position should possess proven expertise in designing and implementing project and program management frameworks, governance practices, and delivery standards across multi-team environments. They must demonstrate the ability to manage portfolio-wide execution, tracking risks, dependencies, KPIs, and driving accountability across complex, cross-functional programs.
