Job Overview: The Project Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the UNESCO Myanmar Project on the System Transformation Grant (STG). This position involves providing comprehensive administrative and operational support to ensure the effective implementation of the project. The incumbent will work under the supervision of the Head of the Myanmar Project Antenna and the program specialist, contributing to the overall goals of the education sector in Myanmar. The role requires a proactive approach to managing program activities, tracking budgets, and preparing reports, as well as facilitating communication and coordination among various stakeholders. The Project Assistant will also be responsible for organizing outreach activities, managing documentation, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations, thereby supporting the strategic planning and capacity development efforts in the education sector.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Project Assistant include tracking and reporting on program activities, preparing project evaluations, and monitoring the budget of projects within the Section/Unit. The incumbent will provide administrative support for outreach activities, partnership initiatives, and special events, including preparing reports, presentations, and documentation. They will assess administrative support needs for meetings and workshops, coordinate office support services, and manage contractual documents. The Project Assistant will also handle HR-related paperwork, travel arrangements, and maintain project documentation and records. Additionally, the role involves providing general office assistance, managing correspondence, and ensuring the smooth operation of administrative functions within the team.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must have completed secondary education and/or possess a Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, finance, accounting, management, education, social sciences, or related fields. The position requires a minimum of five years of relevant experience in administration or program support services for those with secondary education, or a minimum of two years for candidates with a Bachelor’s Degree. Proven experience in providing administrative and logistical support as part of a project team is essential. Candidates should also demonstrate excellent computer skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and under pressure.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a completed secondary education and/or a Bachelor’s Degree in relevant fields such as business administration, finance, accounting, management, education, or social sciences. A higher degree in international development is desirable but not mandatory.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of five years of relevant experience in administration or program support services for candidates with secondary education, or a minimum of two years for those with a Bachelor’s Degree. Experience within the UN System or international organizations is considered an advantage, as is experience in conducting research or in the field of ICT.
Languages: Candidates must have excellent knowledge of English and Myanmar, both spoken and written. Proficiency in these languages is mandatory for effective communication and documentation in the role.
Additional Notes: The contract duration is for twelve months, with an initial three-month probationary period. The position is open to external candidates, and applicants must have the right to live and work in Myanmar. The recruitment process may include pre-recorded video interviews, written assessments, and reference checks.
