Job Overview:
The Health Cluster Coordinator position is critical in managing and coordinating health responses during emergencies and humanitarian crises. The role involves overseeing the health cluster's operations, ensuring compliance with national and international health standards, and facilitating collaboration among health partners. The coordinator will be responsible for conducting needs assessments, managing information sharing, and advocating for health priorities in humanitarian discussions. This position requires a proactive approach to resource mobilization, planning, and capacity building to ensure effective health service delivery to affected populations. The coordinator will also engage in monitoring and evaluation to assess the impact of health interventions and ensure accountability among partners.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage and coordinate rapid health needs assessments and participatory assessments within the sub-national health cluster.
  • Collect and analyze data from health partners to ensure comprehensive coverage of humanitarian health needs.
  • Ensure compliance with health norms and standards in planning and implementation of health responses.
  • Facilitate the involvement of health partners in assessments, planning, and monitoring of health services.
  • Identify training needs and ensure uniform application of health service protocols among partners.
  • Organize consultative meetings and support missions to enhance collaboration among stakeholders.
  • Develop and manage information sharing mechanisms for effective monitoring and reporting.
  • Support resource mobilization efforts and coordinate funding proposals for health initiatives.
  • Advocate for health priorities and ensure their inclusion in humanitarian agendas. 1
  • Identify capacity-building needs and develop training plans for health cluster partners.

Required Qualifications:
Essential qualifications include a first-level university degree in public health, medicine, international relations, social sciences, or management from an accredited institution. Desirable qualifications include an advanced university degree in Humanitarian Action or related fields, along with specialized training in emergency management and health coordination" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">cluster coordination. Candidates should possess strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to work in complex and challenging environments.

Educational Background:
Candidates must hold a first-level university degree in a relevant field such as public health, medicine, or international relations. An advanced degree (Master's or above) in a related discipline is highly desirable, particularly in areas related to humanitarian action and emergency management. Specialized training in health system recovery and coordination is also beneficial for this role.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least five years of relevant experience at both national and international levels in emergency and humanitarian relief operations. Experience in managing and coordinating health programs during chronic and acute emergencies is essential. Desirable experience includes work with WHO, other UN agencies, or recognized humanitarian organizations, demonstrating a strong understanding of collaborative partnerships in health interventions.

Languages:
Expert knowledge of English is essential for this position, along with intermediate knowledge of Arabic. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, enhancing communication with diverse stakeholders in the health sector.

This position is subject to WHO Staff Regulations and may involve mobility to different duty stations. The remuneration package includes an annual base salary starting at USD 71,335, with additional benefits such as 30 days of annual leave, allowances for dependents, and an education grant for children.
