Job Overview: The Area logistics-manager" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Logistics Manager will report directly to the Area Manager and is responsible for the efficient management of logistics resources within the area of intervention. This role serves as a crucial link between the logistics team and the regional logistics manager, ensuring that any issues are communicated effectively and solutions are proposed. The Area Logistics Manager will play a vital role in implementing HI's logistics standards, which aim to enhance the positioning of logistics within the organization and promote professional development. The position is particularly important given the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Sudan, where HI is scaling up its response to meet the urgent needs of the population affected by conflict and displacement.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Area Logistics Manager will have several key responsibilities, including:
Management & Structure: Strengthening the logistics team's capacities by embodying HI's values, coaching team members, organizing operational management, and ensuring compliance with institutional policies.
Deployment of Standards: Ensuring compliance with HI's logistics standards, adapting them to local conditions, supervising internal controls, and guaranteeing accountability in logistics operations.
Operational Implementation: Conducting contextual analyses to identify regulatory requirements and logistics capacities, designing logistics chains tailored to the challenges in Darfur, and planning procurement strategies.
Development of the Logistics Profession: Facilitating the growth of the logistics profession within the geographical area and contributing to the organization's global logistics community. This includes developing local talent and identifying training needs.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess at least 3 years of experience in managing humanitarian logistics, with a minimum of 2 years in emergency responses in conflict-affected countries. Knowledge of mine action activities is considered an asset. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to work effectively in high-pressure environments, manage stress, and handle conflicts. Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills are essential, along with good communication and negotiation abilities in English. Proficiency in Arabic is a plus.
